If you're looking to crash and just pass out then wake up to some sun by the pool then this is the place for you. It's location is killer and it's a tiny bit more upscale then what you'd find at Poppies. But, like most average Bali hotels there are gaps if you pay attention. Like how the renovation is done but isn't quite done. How they spent money on the central courtyard and pool but didn't do much to the rooms. And my personal peeve, the doors have gaps in them for the mozzies to stop on by and have a nice meal while you're sleeping. So, depending on your room, check the doors and windows then put on some repellent.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Autan is a locally sold mozzie repellent which seems to work the best. Just make sure to slather some on before turning off the lights if you're looking for some restful sleep.

The new pool is lovely, and the hotel grounds are nice. For its location it is very quiet. Rooms are comfy and clean.

The food was great, prices are fair and the rooms are what you would expect for the price. If you are young its a good spot to be because its so close to everything but sill very quiet. The pool is beautiful and has a swim up bar. I would stay there again!!
Shopping Tip:
If you want good homewares then head to Biarritz Handycraft centre. Very good prices and loads of things from cushions, paintings, stone and wood sculptures, lamps and other trinkets. As your driver to take you there. Its about 15min out of Kuta.

The location of the hotel is great for me as I like to have a motorbike while I am in Bali and they can go anywhere. There is a small lane alongside the Dewi Sri so that one can get back to the hotel without having to traverse busy Jl Legian. Being near the memorial and Poppies Lane is also nice. Because there is Australian involvement in the management there is an understanding of how we think. I really like that the budget hotels give you a great breakfast free and all the snobs are paying inflated prices, plus tax, at the upmarket hotels. Have stayed several times here.
Restaurant Tip:
Fajah's is really friendly. Just down Poppies Lane and first left, about 30 metres. Not only are they cheap but I have eaten there a lot and had lots of mango and banana juices with no tummy troubles at all. The staff remember you from one year to the next!

Legian 4 day stay
If you like the night life of Legian there is no better location.
Swimming pool, dining area & reception has just been reopened after moderisation and is quite neat.
They are ugrading and modernising the hotel and it will be fine when finished.
The massages are well worth the money.
Staff are freindly and very helpful.

There is actually better snugs hidden away in Legian and Kuta for a similar price; less noisy and better breakfasts.
Internet is charged at 170k IDR per day. Don't do it. Go to the local internet supplies down the road and purchase a prepaid Telcomsel plug in modem which will cost you about 150k IDR. It works anywhere in Indo and will last you at least a month with some pretty heavy usage. Also many cafes or bars have free wifi.
Car hire from the guy just outside the gate is cheap and will set you back about $20US per day. Its a way to get around but be careful with your driving habits since it can be quite daunting.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
dont be fooled at the airport regarding taxi's. don't pick up any taxi since it will cost you 3 times the actual price. go to the taxi office outside the main hall and book a bluebird and a ride to kuta will cost you 35k idr and its metered. touts on the street will ask 150k idr and almost demand a tip. same on the way back book a bluebird.
