1. Location, if you like to shop
2. Clean and adequately equipped room
3. Ocean view from room 1. Don't expect early check-in even if you have requested for it months ahead and even if you have small children who are tired from traveling.
2. Badly sound-proof room (can hear cars sounding their horns & people shouting outside, neighbors moving furniture, toilets flushing, showers, etc)
3. Most of the staff are friendly & courteous but have no problem solving skills/empowerment, they simple 'go by the book'.
4. Relatively small room (Deluxe ocean view)
5. Security - even though all vehicles are checked, many people just walk in without being scanned. We had to wait almost 1.5 hours to check in. When we arrived at 1pm, the front desk staff told us the official check in time is at 2pm. We were only given our rooms at about 2.30pm. And this even when I've told them my 2-year old child needs to sleep and have requested ahead for earlier check in. This is the first time I experienced such bad service in Bali so I hope this is the exception and not the norm as we visit Bali at least once a year. I certainly would not recommend Mercure to anyone nor would I stay there again.
Travel tip : The hotel's right next to Hard Rock hotel/cafe and Pizza Hut, while McDonald's and a food court is about a hundred meters away, so there's no need to eat at the hotel. Shopping is just around the corner and you just have to cross the main road to get to Kuta beach.

the hotel is very near everything in bali. good restaurants, foot massage places, watebom, kuta square, and it's right in front of surf. internet conked out twice while i was there the best thing about the hotel is it's location. it's so close to everything - good restaurants (made's warung, taste of india), massage shops (the one near maccaroni is excellent), kuta square, watebom, the big white mall. plus, it's right in front of kuta and legian beach breaks, and a short boat ride away from kuta reef.
the rooms are decent although a bit small. except for suite 411, which is fantastic. the view from the rooftop is nice also. food is so-so. cheaper and much better places to eat near the hotel so it wasn't much of a problem.
the only real inconvenience i had during my stay there was the hassle of renewing my internet access every single day. and it conked out 2 days out of the two weeks i stayed there last.
Restaurant Tip : made's warung to eat, legian beach break to surf, and maccaroni to drink

The Kuta beach is just outside the hotel 1. I reserved a double room but ended up a twin
2. Hotel food is poor I booked 2 rooms and one of them was a double. I checked into the room and called the reception. They only explained to me that double was full and a high grade twin was provided to me as a compensation. This is not a good attitude to treat custoemrs. There are dozens of hotels near Kuta beach. Friends told me that Hard Rock Hotel (next to Mercure) is good. I probably try this hotel when I visit Bali the next time.
Shopping Tip : It is a walking distance to a bunch of shops and restaurants

Hotel staff polite, good location. I have noting to complain.
Whenever I come to Bali I stay at the Mercure Kuta Hotel. They have a fantastic cafe where u can have buffet breakfast which overlooks the endless swimming pool and Kuta beach. This hotel is very centrally located and such good value. I am suprized that this hotel doesn't charge more. But who's complaining. I enjoy the day spa which is 5 star. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff are very helpful. They have a tour desk adn shop where u can hire surf boards etc... Definetly recomend to stay here

No floor towel in the bath room. The overall quality of the room is not worth for the room rate. No towel for the wet and slipy floor in the baht room and it is dangerous when step out from the old style of bathtub. Air conditioner does not work very well. Other room facilities are just OK. Breakfast should be included in this rate. Location of the hotel is very good by facing the sea and close to local shops where lots of things can be bought.

The location on Kuta beach is rather handy for the beach, dining and shopping. Bathrooms are awkward.
Traffic on street in front of hotel can be jammed. This was my third stay at the Kuta Mercure. It's convenient to where I need to be for business. My standard room on the third floor. It was nice, but the bathroom was quite awkward. You had to sit on the toilet sideways, since there was only a few inches between the front of the toilet and the counter - not enough room for my legs. Also, the shower required a big step to get into, risking a slip for sure. The hallways can be quite dark. It's supposed to look cool, but it just seems too dark.
Restaurant Tip : Poppies Lane, which has several good restaurants, is just a short walk from the hotel.

Nice and stylish hotel.
Take only few steps to Kuta beach, good location as near to shopping area.
Nothing to complaint, just keep up this standard. For my point of view, it's even better than Hard Rock Hotel which just beside Mercure. Must get a time for swimming at the swimming pool, super duper nice view for Kuta beach, especially the sunset. Must try the Spa package if the price is affortable to you, you'll never regret. Strongly recommend the sea view deluxe room. The advantage for this type of room is it have a open air balcony.

Good location on Kuta Beach, if that is where you want to be. Close to restaurants & shops as well as the beach. Internet overpriced. Bathrooms awkwardly designed. Lights have mystery controls. This was my second stay at the Kuta Mercure. It's convenient to where I need to be for business. I stayed in a deluxe room the first time, but this trip I had just a standard room on the ground floor. It was nice, but the bathroom was quite awkward. Also, the shower required a big step to get into, risking a slip for sure. Also, since it was a ground floor, anybody could walk by the patio doors and see into the room.
Restaurant Tip : There's a good Mexican restaurant - TJ's - on Poppies lane, which is just a short walk from the hotel.

Great hospitality - we were given wonderful service right from the start. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and ever helpful. We travelled with a 8 month baby and they made sure that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an enjoyable stay in Bali. The view from the hotel is excellent - right opposite the beach where you can view great sunrise and sunset from the rooftop pool. Excellent service, very helpful staff and great food too
Restaurant Tip : This central location offers a quick walk to restaurants, night life and great food. Not to mention the fame kuta beach right at your door step.

Meet all expectation of 4* hotel. Fantastic pool view, great location. Mintues to nearby resturants and Kuta night market. Could offer more breakfast variety. The most conveninent location in Kuta. The beach is just right in front of the hotel. Restuarants, night market and Kuta Square are nearby. Room is comfortable, equipped with all the amenities. Staff is also fiendly and helpful. My little girl loves feeding the koi at the koi pond. Besides soaking in the roof top pool, you can have your massage there and reserve "sunset dinner" overlooking the beach. Overall, it's a pleasant and memorable stay at Mercure Kuta.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Must see in Bali - The manificant volcano and lake view at Mount Batur and its spectacular rice paddy fields at Tegalalang.

Friendly staff, close to beach, pool allows view of sunset. Rooms a little small, bathroom privacy could be an issue, no non-smoking rooms. We are two friends traveling together staying at the Mercure in April 2009. We arrived at the hotel around 1pm and were able to check into our room straight away. We were given a room on the ground floor which didn't have a view and smelled a bit musty so we asked to be moved, which was done without fuss as soon as cleaning was finished. The second room was much nicer with a balcony and view of the green lobby and pond. Unfortunately, they don't have non-smoking rooms, so anyone with asthma etc may have a problem. The hotel room was clean and well-equipped though small. The bathroom doors are quite strange and don't close without leaving a gap, so bathroom privacy may be an issue. The hotel is directly across from the beach and you can even watch the sunset from the nice but small pool on the roof. Was quite quiet when we were there, but get the feeling it may get a bit more 'lively' (so not as suitable for families) during peak season. Nice area for beauty/ spa treatments next to pool.

Location is good, walked across the street to the beach. relatively close to the main area with the bars/clubs. nice interior courtyard garden, nice pool view. poolside food was horrible. Nothing was included, no airport shuttle, no free internet. The design of the hotel was nice....room was extremely small. The bathroom was cool, until i slipped and bruised my leg. I felt like complaining but figured it was pointless. They actually charged for local calls i made from my room. that to me was just bad hotel policy.

Good location, spacious room, good service & friendly staffs.. mirror should be on top of sink... this hotel just nice in front of the kuta beach. The swimming pool is on the roof top where you can have beach view right in front of you. Not too noisy as is quite some distance compared to another hotel which have the live band till midnight.

Atmosphere full of greenery, a pleasant looking fish pond in the center of all rooms offering great relaxation. Complication of administrative documentation during check in. It is an ideal place for honeymooners. The design of lighting appears exceptionally romantic. Walking along the walkway gives you a feeling of coziness with appropriately planted greenery. The design and location of the elevated swimming pool on the fourth floor offers an opportunity to view remarkable sunrise as well as sunset.
Shopping Tip : Merchandise in shopping outlets near the hotel are generally attractive but the prices are also a bit on the high side which is not compatible to those in the south-east Asian region.

the lobby was nicely design a cross of modern and Balinese style. The Location was fantastic, as you can access to poppies 2 lane just a short walk away for get bargains and local items. I find the rooms a little small and poorly light. It would be better if the are a few extra lights around the closet area. I went there with my family, and we occupied 3 rooms. Overall i would not recommend this place for Family with kids, most probably young adults or couples. I feel that the price is a little high as I can get much better rooms elsewhere with the same price.
Shopping Tip : Get great bargains at Tanah Lot, Kintamani and Mata Air.
