Friendliness of staff, flexibility of hotel rules, beautiful pool, great washing and ironing facilities, great reading room for use as a get together place for our family, some of the guests a bit rowdy, for some of our group the breakfast could have had a bigger variety and we sometimes had to ask for the bain maries to be replenished We choose to stay at Rama because my husband and I are expats living abroard in China and when we come to Bali we actually like to interact with Aussies.....it feels like we are back in Australia. We liked the fact that we could see our family from our balconies.....the staff knew us all(all but 2 out of the 7 had stayed there before) so it was like one big happy family. I particularly liked the fact that because it was over Christmas and New Year we all brought alcohol with us - there was no objection to drinking this in the restaurant - in fact, the servers quickly obliged and supplied the glasses, including champagne glasses for the champagne. The restaurant has been recently renovated, including the reading room (it was in progress when my sister and I went there in September) so we designated this special place as our meeting place during our stay. We were even given the privilege of using it for the special New Year's Eve dinner as it was air conditioned (the restaurant only had fans. It was our son's birthday on 1st so they presented him with a big basket of fruit and flowers for the room.....there was a lovley touch on our last days stay....the towel's on the bed decorated it in the shaped of a duck. All in all a wonderful experience...I shall certainly be returning with the family again.
Restaurant Tip : Mozarella's closeby is great value for money and no service charge.

Pool has lots of shaded area around it. Spa was also good. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Airconditioner could have been colder.Need more TV channels to choose from. When we first arrived it was a bit of a suprise compared to some of the other Hotels we had stayed at. The layout of the room was different to what I am used to but it was clean and comfortable. After staying for 10 days we would go back to the Rama Gardens but it would have to be a cost based decision
Restaurant Tip : Indo Restaurant in same street up past the Lokha is run by Aussie's. Has excelent food at great prices.

Location was excellent, nice small facility. Staff were lovely, checked us in early (after a red-eye flight) and when we asked to change from a twin to a double the next day they were very kind and accommodating Rooms need to be updated, very hard for staff to keep clean with all the nooks and crannies. Breakfast standards need to be lifted.. the only milk available is 1 UHT carton on the side of the egg station if you looked hard enough. Great little place, loved the location - didn't even realise that Rama Garden was in there. Our room was a little rundown but quaint! Staff were lovely, would not usually write about breakfast but it is pretty bad there.. milk = 1 ctn of UHT on the egg station..haha - we ate out for breakfast most days as Rama's was unappealing but hey loved staying at this little place. Would definitely stay again
