Wonderful privacy, idyllic ravine valley setting, brilliant staff & service, excellent facilities, complete luxury experience not inexpensive! (but worth every penny) My wife and I stayed for just 2 nights at the Viceroy Bali. The hotel is located on the slopes of a steep valley near Ubud, which is a spectacularly beautiful area of Bali. There are views of the valley from virtually every spot in the hotel, and especially from the infinity pools and spa. Facilities are first-class, and include a steam-room and jacuzzi, pool, private pool in some villas. The hotel, like many in Bali, operates a free shuttle service around the Ubud area, which is a welcome relief from the hassle of organising taxis. What really made the stay for us was the friendliness of the staff, who went out of their way to help us and make our stay unforgettable, including teaching us suitable fragments both of Indonesian and Balinese. As soon as we can afford it, we'll be going back!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Learn to play a gamelan instrument through a local 'library' centre, Pondok Pekak - or one of a number of local crafts. I also recommend whitewater rafting - there are several firms offering suitable packages.

food, service, location, exclusivity, peacefulness. Some staff at reception were not up to 5 star standard they were a little bit disorganized and amateuristic. This is in contrast with everything else which was on a par with a world leading hotel. Hotel tours turned out to be just renting the hotel driver who had no tour guide skills Just believe what everyone else has been saying. I was skeptical before staying (we stayed 5 days). A part from the small cons listed above everything else was phenomenal. I am not American so tend not to exagerate with my choice of vocabulary but we had an awsome experience in the true sense of the word.
This is an extremely refined exclusive place where you can just rest undisturbed and enjoy luxurious facilities and world class service. I can highly recommend this hotel!
Restaurant Tip : This is not a tip but rather a recommendation not to visit a restaurant. Every one says go to the Mozaic restaurant when in Ubud for fine dining. if you are used to fine dining in Paris etc dont bother its overrated.

nice natural enviroment and facility Not many food choices; Need better shampoo if possible Viceroy is a very good hotel located in a beautiful natural enviroment, which is very suitable for people who want to enjoy quietness and natural living conditions.
It provides good services including free shuttle bus to Ubud market area, just 10mins. So you can enjoy quiet enviroment in hotel and also the busy life in Ubud market.
If I must pick sth for improvement, I hope the hotel can provide more food options, not only the French cuisine, which I really cannot get used to. And I wish the hotel can provid a better shampoo, the current one really made me uncomfortable.
Anyway it is a very good hotel and worth your staying
