Very dissapointing check-out handling

Very dissapointing when check-out, they claimed there were a piece of snack losing from the room's bar and holded me for 20 minutes to check it before finally the know its their own mistake. They did not care about guest's flight time at all. so for 100% sure will not reccomend this hotel and for its rate, can easily find a much pro staff hotel in even better area like seminyak.

Nice stay for a short getaway.

It was a pleasant 4 night stay considerably. We received warm welcome upon arrival but was told that our room will only be ready at 12PM(Our actual check-in was 1:30PM). So, we asked for suggestions around but the helpful staff does not know much about the hotel surroundings . Food at the restaurant is of small serving size, waiting time is just right but the taste is average. Nearby the hotel is a small spa & there is a nice little ice cream place Gusto. Free shuttle to Seminyak Square is available at 3 interval but not for return shuttle. The amenities & facilities are slightly above our expectations but disappointed that the jacuzzi is not working. The connection for wifi was pretty bad in the room and password only last 24hours. Breakfast is the same everyday. Do take note that the staff needs constant reminder if you had asked them for something-taxi booking.

Good service and good english speaking staff. Nice swimming pool. Gym not big but with al you need. Sauna ok. Good wifi connection in all the residence. Location not far from action or the beach (10-15 minutes by car) and also there is a shuttle service to shopping area and Bintang Supermarket.
Room in good condition and clean, with all the amenities you need.
Restaurant, coffee shops, minimart, laundry, massage walking distance.

i had a great stay at Umalas, the room service was very good , the rooms clean and the food in the roof top restaurant was lovely with a good mix of local and western foods.
some staff knew very little english which sometimes made things a little uneasy, but we worked through it.
Shopping Tip:
while this hotel was to my liking, i found it to be a bit far away from the main shopping and night life of bali, with at least a half hour trip by taxi because of road works that had been going on for years this become very frustrating when doing it daily.taxis are very cheap here, so the money side of it didnt worry me.
but the area is a lot more laided back than say Kuta with all its rush rush.

I booked this hotel because in what is the beginning of the peak season in Bali, it represented excellent value for money. It turned out to be better than I expected.
On arrival was upgraded to a 2-bedroom penthouse. The living area was very spacious and included a kitchenette which was however sparsely fitted out so any thoughts of cooking one's own meals would have required asking the hotel to provide the necessary equipment plus crockery/cutlery. The large refrigerator had a few drinks and there were some snacks all at very reasonable prices. Big, plasma tv on the wall and comfortable sofas, dining table and chairs.
The bedroom was compact but had sufficient wardrobe space and a dresser. I really wish hotels would start putting power outlets near the bedside given the number of devices we have to charge up overnight these days - mobile phones, iPad, laptop - all of which it's useful to be able to be using in bed as well! A second large plasma tv hung on the wall. The bathroom was separate (not ensuite) but it had large shower, basic toiletries and a vanity unit. Room servicing was excellent and fast. My suite had a spiral staircase to a rooftop patio with a small gazebo. It was a great place to escape to for quietness, a cool drink and a good book. Would suggest however adding at least one deckchair-type lounge for relaxing.
Staff at the hotel are great! I particularly commend those in the rooftop breakfast area who get the day off to a very cheerful start. Breakfast menu is unexciting but most people could find something that agreed. Great music is played!
Wifi is free but based on 3-hour vouchers which must be requested at Reception. Better system would be to give access for duration of stay. It's such a drag logging in and out all the time.
I have only one complaint about this hotel and that is the swimming pool in the centre of the hotel and the resultant noise through the day which permeates to all rooms. It was disturbing.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Though in an off-the-beaten-track location, the hotel is not so far from good shopping, beaches, nightlife all in nearby Seminyak. But you will need transport - your own or hired. The hotel can help.
