The rooms, the service, the bars inside the hotel

difficulties breaking the language barrier

I had some troubles at first figuring out how to turn the lights on. I finally realized after 20 minutes that you had to stick your room key into the slot to turn them on. Some forewarning would have been appreciated. The rooms were beautiful, the service was lovely and the food was delicious. If i ever go back to Batam, I will definetly stay at the Novotel again.

Staff was friendly Security good

No transport provided from ferry terminal to hotel. Should have better lighting in room and lobby. There's a minor blackout during our stay there. The power tripped when we were watching TV but it turn back on after 20-30sec. Not really a Sea-view room that we got. Noisy traffic.

Check-in was slow. The housekeeping need to improve on its timeliness. We checked-in at 5pm and our room was not even ready. We had to wait for another 20 minutes and we can see that the bed was haphazardly done. Shouldnt it normally be ready by then since standard check-out time was at 12pm?? We took hotel free transport to Nagoya Shopping mall. The bus driver said the bus will come again at a certain timing abd we can take the bus back to the hotel. He took our room nbr and left. But when the time comes, the bus is no where in sight. We waited for 1 hr and decided to take taxi back to hotel ourself.

Large king sized bed. Good security. Very good mannered staff.

Indoor pool. I was expecting an outdoor pool to suntan. But unfortunately it was indoor.

Overall a very good stay for 2day 1nite. There was a blackout for a good 5 to 10 mins though. Haha. But it was kinda romantic. There was a BBQ buffet at the garden but i didnt try it. But one thing for sure, if i ever have to go Batam again, Novotel will definitely be my 1st choice. Lastly, they provide free shuttle service for me to go to the ferry terminal.
