A nice hotel but requires a taxi to move around

the best thing of our one night stay at batam island in february 2012 was the novotel hotel. the hotel is located about 10-15 minutes from batam centre by taxi and a tourist should not even consider going around without one. the hotel looks good inside and outside. the service is very friendly, including reasonable price room service with a variety of dishes to choose from. our room was located in 4th floor and a room big enough was equipped with a tv but sadly the view was a bit poor. maybe the rooms with an ocean view or ot with a view to the inside garden would have been nicer? no bugs seen and the inside pool with a ocean view was a nice extra.

10mins by walk to the ferry terminal. Hotel room is spacious and he Mexican dinner buffet is quite tasty. However, there is no interesting places surrounding the hotel.

Clean Spacious Hotels With Friendly Staffs

Room was spacious, ample space to move around not like some hotel rooms in which you feel pretty enclosed. The view from our room is nice and we managed to catch an excellent display of fireworks (On New Year) from our room location.
The staffs are friendly and courteous and do remember your name. Always ready to extend their help if you require.
The only offsets are the cardkeys which often lose their magnetism easily and have to reset at the counter the very next day. Also it would help if their breakfast buffet can vary in varieties every other day.
Generally the stay was a pleasant one and I would strongly recommend to stay at the hotel again.
Restaurant Tip:
Not many fanciful restaurants around, but there are two pretty good ones serving chinese food at Nagoya Mall. One is the 'Wen Duck' and the other is 'Happiness'. Do try them out.

although not near to nagoya hill, it still provides 3nos of free shuttle sevice (one way) daily. visiting other places, have to take cab.
Travel tip:
take cab outside hotel must negotiate and very much cheaper.
