good places to eat nearby
We had asked for a late checkout as our ferry only departed at 2040. We were put on hold for hours beore they got back to us. We visited the health centre for a massage, it was open but there was no one to answer or queries, we were promised that someone wld be calling us within the next 15 mins by the reception but no one called even after 30 mins. We went for a massage outside.

Not Much Small Sized Baths
I came back here this weekend (31st Nov 2009) after being here last weekend, and was given a far better room this room had just been updated to contemporary furniture and Flat screen TV. The bath however is only one you can sit up in and is the ld bath with various chips in the enamel. THe wireless is good.
Had lunch in the restaraunt and the service and meal was very good.
I will always use this Hotel for my visits to Batam.

Very Clean, Staff were polite not real faults. The room was not Foisty like the other two I have stayed in. Up to now this is my best choice for Batam and I am going back this weekend.
Bathrooms are a bit tired, but it seems the same for all Batam Hotels.
By the way ifyou ask for fried eggs they will put toato ad CHilli Sauce on the plate so be warned.
I stayed in two hotels in Batam previous to the Novotel, the Planet and the Swiss, both of these have foistybedrooms due to the humid atmosphere. the Novotel does not suffe rhis problem.
As in the other hotels though the bathroom was a bit tired with the furniture looking worn and the bath chipped.
Nightlife Tip : For Westerners thebest bars for me were the Bar Fly, the Asylum and Steps.
