cant really leave the resort area unless you join tour. otherwise stay in the area for two day one night is good enough. love the pool and the beach except it was affected by black oil when we were there.

We booked 2 nights here at the end of a Singapore trip. The ferry trip was extremely rocky and the 50 minutes felt a lot longer! Luckily, we got through immigration relatively quickly and were directed to the Nirwana resort bus with the other 50 people. There are only a few resorts near the ferry terminal area so we were torn between booking here or Banyan tree. We booked Nirwana because of the beach and pool but were really looking for a better quality hotel than this one. Nirwana is looking old and tatty, even the newly refurbished rooms are poorly finished. However, the choice is limited, we visited Banyan tree, and that resort is v expensive and the hotel is looking worn too. Also, the service was awful, the Nirwana staff were far more friendly and attentive. We liked the mini zoo, riding the elephant along the beach and swimming in the big pools. Great for weekend, but no longer than that.

The stay was relaxing because it is beside the beach. The swimming pool is lovely. You can use the swimming pool at the Villa which is next to yhis hotel sine they are of the same management.

Overall, the hotel is nice and perfect for a last minute planned quick escape. Clean rooms, very friendly and attentive staff. Couple of things that could have been improved include food options and quality. Since the hotel is located in a huge complex own by the group, everything is included in it, which makes it feel forceful for guests to purchase everything provided - no other options.
Hotel activities are catered to non-beach/ocean hotel regular activities. They could have improved the swimming pool even better since most guests are there to enjoy the sun. Night activities can be improved with a more hip happening bar, instead of a live band in a pub that looks kinda sleazy and not inviting at all.

We upgraded from a double to a queen at the suggestion of our daughter in law. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we told them that when we booked, we also asked for a sea view. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite and we found that we were just 30 metres from the beach with a balcony with furniture...just magic. The facilities were great and so was the beach. Especially loved the animals made out of towels laid on the bed with flowers around them. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Would go there again.
