Grand Flora Hotel, Jakarta

Was very nice hotel, great pool area, clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and as helpful as can be. Staff outside great for hailing taxi's. Having a massage at the hotel was also very good - not having to trape off anywhere else although a little expensive in comparisson. Bed very comfortable and room cleaned any time of the day which is great. Thanks

Very few of the staff seemed to speak much English or were very limited in their understanding and did not understand some of the simple questions we asked (especially at the concierge desk). On a non-smoking floor there was a lot of smoking going on and for people with allergies, this is a real turn-off! Housekeeping staff and some wait staff at breakfast seemed to have better command of English than some at reception. When I booked a car/driver for the day and explained that my itenerary was not for touring but for traveling around the Kemang area to finalize purchases, the concierge assured me they could provide a driver that knew the area (mostly Kemang), spoke a bit of English, and would be okay with me showing him locations to go on business cards without using a set itinerary. This could not have been farther from the truth! Driver could barely see the card to read address, was lost immediately when destination was essentially "around the corner", only knew two words of English which were "hello" and "mrs.". When I called back to the hotel concierge for assistance, the concierge was barely able to understand the problem and tried again to make me tell him my destinations all in advance. A local friend had to speak to my driver on my handphone to translate at least three times throughout the day. The hotel was unable to assist with the problem. I wish I had taken a bluebird taxi for the day instead as I ended up wasting a good part of the day and spending double or more to retain the hotel's driver.

We have been in this hotel for two nights. It is a good hotel, the location is convenient. The rooms are clean and well sized. The staff is friendly. There are some nice bars and restaurants in the area near the hotel. Be carefull crossing the road in front of the hotel. I would stay here again. It's close to Blok M and Senayan.
