Friendly & helpful staff, clean rooms, well-lit areas. Insufficient training, food choices. First up, if you are coming to Jakarta, do bear in mind that there are 2 Ibis Hotel in Tamarin and they are both within walking distance of each other. My cab dropped me off at the wrong one and I had to lug my own luggage out of the first hotel, cross the road and walked the other few steps to the next hotel ... good thing I was not traveling with heavy baggage this trip.
Overall, the Hotel is value for money. The staff is friendly, always a smile on their face. I arrived after 9:00am and the room was not available. I had to return 3 times (after 2:45pm) before I was told the room was ready and the best part is ... I was asked what type of rooms I want - smoking or non-smoking, twin or double beds! When I said any type as long as I can check-in, they said they have plenty of empty rooms!!! I decided not to ask any further.
I went upstairs, the key card did not work. I went back downstairs. I went back upstairs, I realized my baggage was not sent. I went downstairs. I was told someone would sent it to me shortly ... so I sat and waited ...
Aside from the checking in incident, everything else about the hotel was good especially its location ... within a short walk, you have a lot of lovely upmarket and average restaurants ... a nice Cineplex ... 2 small malls but Sarina is worth it if you are a tourist as they have generally reasonable quality handicrafts and batik ... and the Hard Rock Cafe is further down the road (take a bajai).
Shopping Tip : Batik & Handicraft at upper floors of Sarina Mall have everything you can want.

nice breakfast with various of choices, near to town center, simply but clean room. the area is not safe at night, the swimming pool is in bath tub size, expensive charges on Internet usage. Overall I would rate this hotel 65%. It is located near to city center of Jakarta but yet not reachable by walking. It is very convenience to take a Taxi to reach those happening area like Plaza Indonesia shopping, Grand Plaza, and also some banks, office area and also some well known hotel like Nikko hotel. However, it is not safe to walk out alone at night since there are a long dark road in front of the hotel.
Shopping Tip : it is just 5min drive to a big shopping called "Plaza Indonesia" and "Grand Indonesia".

Nicely kept hotel.Staffs efficient.Room Clean.Close to SARINAH where plenty of foods and shops can be found within 15min walking distance. Located in a messy & busy streets though no security/safety threats. My 3rd time staying in this hotel.Price is very competitive.Rooms are clean & hotels also well equipped & managed by ACCOR Group.
Hotel is located within city centre,close to shopping mall & western style restaurants & fast foods. So clean hygiene cheap foods are not an issue. Just 15min walk away. Hotel is also close to Plaza Indonesia & new Grand Indonesia 2km away.
Shopping Tip : Sarinah Shopping Mall and Restaurants is close by.

good location, reasonable good breakfast, good price/value traffic during 3-in 1 regulations. good, friendly and quick check-in upon arrival. room ok, although quite smoky as I forgot to ask for non-smoking.
restaurant is good in the morning but a bit basic for dinner. however very good food around the hotel within 5 minute walk.
Nightlife Tip : Jaya Pub, behind Gedung Jaya, Jalan Thamrin, only 10 minutes walk

It's a small hotel with friendly as well as helpful hotel. The service is really nice so that I enjoyed my staying in Ibis Tamarin.
There're so many choices of dinner. Just walk up to sarinah Mall, you'll find many choices. If you get bored with Sarinah Mall food, take the taxi to Plaza Indonesia or Grand Indonesia, there's various food you have to try, the sky is the limit.
The room is too small.
Although it's located right in the center of Jakarta, the view around the hotel is nothing really inviting.
Nothing fancy about the breakfast. They have the Indonesian spicy stuff of breakfast, but lack of Western ones. So, don't expect anything fancy about breakfast.
The gym is really small and the equipment is not that modern, but the staff is really helpful. they are always there to assist you anytime you have trouble operating the gym equipment. Restaurant Tip : There are many restaurants around the hotel, but please don't even think to try the food vendor, I got bad stomachache after eating the satay from the vendor in front of the hotel in the corner of the cross road near the hotel. If you really want to try the traditional Indonesian food but it's safe for your stomach and wallet, go take a taxi (just 10 minutes drive) to Grand Indonesia, and go to the food court there. The food is just amazing.

Been staying in this hotel a couple of times. Over all, I really love this hotel for it's simple and located in the strategic location of busy central jakarta.
Restaurant Tip : Try some food in the basement of Sarinah Mall, just only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. For any fancy food but affordable price, try the new sophisticated Grand Indonesia. It's in just 10 minutes by taxi.

Clean rooms, friendly staff. The Tamarin Jakarta is a good value for money hotel. It is suited for short stays. The room size is fair. Bathroom is clean and everything works as it should. Hotel staff is helpful. City center at walking distance. If you have just arrived in Jakarta after an intercontinental flight of more than 12 hrs you should avoid the rooms situated on the side of the pool/bar, where live music can be heard at night.

Good value for money, rooms are on the small side but neat and tidy, good breakfast buffet, and the hotel is not far from the big shopping malls. The area in front of the hotel though is not very inviting, but would stay at this hotel again if I were to travel to Jakarta.

In the heart of Jakarta, what more do you need? I mean, you aren't going to spend the whole day in your tiny hotel room. At the Tamarind, you can walk to so many places. The shopping mall hubs of Jakarta and some of the best city dining. This street has everything from shopping to cafes to clubs...street eateries etc. The best massage place in Jakarta, Bersih Sehat is just across the street! You can easily find taxis...and just an hour to the airport. I was a bit annoyed with the noise levels of my neighbors but the hotel staff strained them out quite quickly.

The neighbourhood is a bit rowdy and streets are not clean for sidewalking. Traffic busy and streets and pavements dirty leading to hotel.
Shopping Tip : Most of the shopping malls and nice hotels are within walking distance. Takes about 15 minutes or two blocks away to reach franchised foods such as Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Starbucks Cafe, etc.
