friendly , attentive staff, great buffets and restaurants city view from hotel window over the poorer areas of Jakarta People make experiences, and at the Shangri-la hotel Jakarta the employees are extremely friendly, attentive and made the experience all the more enjoyable. The hotel has very good restaurants which are good value for money and it is central to the business district. The pool area is somewhat crowded on the weekends , as is the buffets, however the experience was positive.
Restaurant Tip : Extremely cheap authentic Indonesian cuisine right next door to the Shangri-la in building wisma 46.

Very good = staff great room great, Rosso restuarant was 70 out of 100.
If anyrhing i thought the prices were a little high, but otherwise very good would stay again

Departure with nice Mercedes to the airport was good and knowing never going back to shangri la Jakarta. It is a shame when shangri la show photos about room, and when you arrive it not look at all the same, old, dirty and terrible view.
why you not tell that the view is slum and a mosque when y have pool view.
and why you not inform, lobby and all the shopping arcade is closed for renovation.
and also where ever you go and when you leave the area is security with military and m16 gun.
and the area is so bad, no shopping center nothing close to the area, when y walk around the hotel it is like you are in the poorest area, slum area!!!
so i wonder if you book by agoda, is it means that you always will get lower class room and view and service, and not even get mileage for your star alliance card.

great hotel to be in, very safe breakfast not included for the price I paid. quite pricy. Shang is a 5 star hotel and everyone knows.So the expectations to and from guests are nothing less than 5 stars.
Hotel Feature Tip : should include breakfast for the price.

Great pool / pool area and garden.
Good food. Buffet in the international Tattoo restaurant with changing themes and selections.
Friendly staff. No shopping centre within walking distance. The Shangri-La Jakarta is a recently renovated (but older) hotel in the business centre of Jakarta. Unfortunately there are no shopping centres or food outlets in the immediate vicinity. You will have to beat the traffic (horrible at times) to reach any of them. The pool area is great. Not many people were using the pool and often we had the entire pool for ourselves. The staff is very friendly altough not of the same standard as for instance in Shangri-La Beijing of on Penang. It is all a bit more casual and relaxed down here. Surprisingly this hote didn't offer a babycot. They only have babycribs suitable to accommodate a newborn. We had to put up with an additional bed (free of charge after a small negotiation) which restricted the space in the room a bit. Overall we are satisfied with this hotel.
Shopping Tip : Passaraya shooping centre: go he the 4th floor for an amazing selection of Indonesian arts and crafts. Not cheap but reasonably priced.

The pro is the fact it is a Shangri-La It's in jakarta - worst Asian city I have been to As al SL hotels, perfect in every way, they know how to take care of their guests and no hotel lets them down.
Travel tip : Just try to avoid Jakarta!
