the hotel is small and easy to hear each other from room. but easy access to shopping mall and foods. Do not take "beca" take blue bird tax is safer. Always have small note in your pocket.

Rooms are worth the money you pay bcoz location is good and convenient for shopping and eating. KFC is just behind and also many food outlet at Carefour.Easy to get public transport. Very centrally located.
Staff also very friendly and helpfull.
The management should put some no smoking sign in the lobby and restaurant.

Great Location - nothing else

Stayed there for 2 nights in early June 2012. Rooms were a little on the small side (and they were the Deluxe rooms already). No closet so our stuff went everywhere in the room.
Located near some popular(to the locals) street food stalls (500m walk) and also a number of indonesian bakeries selling Bika Ambon and other local cakes (250m). Also within walking distance of Plaza Medan Fair (with Carrefour as hypermart tenant, 600m in a different direction).
The mattress and bedsheets were fantastic but the aircon was in dismal condition (we had 2 rooms booked, both rooms reported aircon problems). Set it to coldest temperature but still not cool. Did not need to pull over a blanket even though the room temperature was set at 16 degrees celsius.
Having the washing sink inside the room instead of the bathroom felt like some sort of dorm or hospital room.
Breakfast was tasty enough but the selection was disappointing (only fried rice, fried noodles, toast & green bean dessert). What? You do not provide creamer or milk for the coffee & tea?
For the price paid, you probably would not expect much better anyway. It's a good place to base yourself for shopping and eating adventures in Medan.

The rooms are basic, no hot water facilities in the room. But there is a water dispenser on the lobby level where you can get your hot water to make a cup of tea.
I only stayed a night so can't comment about the surroundings.
Breakfast is not too good as limited variety, otherwise good value for money
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you want to go to Lake Toba, it will cost you Rp70,000 per person, 4-5 hours journey so start early.

Strategic place near shopping areas.

Alpha Inn is within walking distance to a good number of shopping areas. Plaza Medan Mall and Pasar Petisah are just a few minutes away. You can even walk to Cambridge Mall and The Sun Plaza, but I would advise you take the becak or taxi.
The hotel is clean and well kept. The staff are all friendly. Breakfast served however can surely be improved. If you really want to enjoy the variety of good food at so many places in Medan, just skip the breakfast served at the hotel so you can enjoy your early lunch and dinner better.

affordable and comfortable - a star hotel in medan
Its location which is near Polonia Airport and in city centre.

we arrived early from the airport and were greeted warmly by the hotel personnel. we were allowed to take one of the rooms even before the normal scheduled check in time. this helped us a lot as the kid need to be attended and ensure security for our bags and belongings. as we could settle down right away, we had a peaceful mind and time taking a quick tour of the city before coming back to the hotel for a proper rest. we missed the first "city night life" as the rooms were so good and clean that every one of us slept deeply until we were awaken for our dawn prayer.
Shopping Tip:
Get a good and honest tour guide who can assist you in your shopping especially for ladies to bargain for best price items.
