Spacious room but far from the city center

After two encounters with taxi drivers who tried to rip me off in Medan (one when I arrived and the other when I had to go to the city center for dinner), I decided to stay the whole day in my hotel room because I didn't want to get more frustrated and ruin my vacation. Good thing that the hotel offers breakfast and the room has a mini-bar and cable TV. The room is spacious and clean.

Beautiful hotel but bad food

The moment when you approching this hotel, you will get sweat because this hotel is not in the centle of the city. But the moment when you step into the hotel, you will be very delight with their pretty and high class interial design if you say its only a 3 star hotel. You will surprise when you first see the hotel lobby and also the toilet (js next to the reception counter). Room was very nice and relaxing.
However, food need to be improved as when we go for our breakfast at around 930am, all of their food is cold. Can you imagine the taste of cold nasi lemak and cold friend yellow mee in a damn cold restourant in the morning?? Wonder why they do not heat it?

Large room with all the amenities i.e. TV, coffee maker, sofa, safe box, king size bed, clean bathroom.

Local in town center, 15 minutes to Merdeka Walk. Convenient stall just down the road. Free breakfast.

we stayed here two nights at end of a sumatran holiday and really appreciated the standard and comfort of the room. it was a class above most of the hotels we stayed in. room was clean spacious and had all mod cons - fantastic shower and quality fittings throughout. the included breakfast was disppointing - plentiful but minimal western style options. reception staff were efficient and had good english but restaurant staff were slow and seemed to avoid us. it took several attempts and different waiters to place a simple order. location is okay - close enough to shops and sites.

Hotel was nice overall...staff quite friendly and responsive.
Medan is quite big...need to be careful on where to go and timing. Takes longer than planned.
Shopping Tip:
You can order the famous Medan Bika Ambon cake and have it delivered to your hotel on the morning of your flight!It's nicely boxed with carrier(up to 3 boxes within). Perfect for flight hand carry-on.
