The hotel is located slightly outside town and is not the most convenient if you need to be in town. Otherwise, with the 60% discount, the relatively new, clean and big rooms were definitely a big plus. My only problem with the stay was that when I asked for a blue bird to be called in the morning, the reception staff asked me to call myself and the best part was they gave me someone's handphone number instead of blue bird's call centre. Not quite sure what the receptionist was up to, but it certainly wasn't what I expected. Otherwise it's fine to spend a night.

My friends and I have nice time staying in Grand Sakura Hotel. The hotel is comfortable, and my room have been upgraded from Superior to Business. We have an academic trip to various universities in Medan and Perpustakaan Kota Medan. Have nice time shopping and visiting Lake Toba, Samosir Island, Tongging and Berastagi.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Experiences going to Lake Toba and Samosir Island is unforgettable. The scenery is so beautiful, you will never find it in Malaysia.

I initially book the cheapest room available on agoda but was given the biggest room for free! not too sure why but it was a wonderful surprise. Great room, you can easily get a cab as well so its good to move around.

nice hotel with new renovation. the location is nearby to town. only need less then 10 minutes to merdeka walk in medan. the room is spacious but dont have carpet so its bit cold.
Nightlife Tip:
This hotel have karaoke and health spa just behind the hotel.

there is a travel agent based in the hotel, but they only provide transportation service (we were looking to book a travel package). i would consider staying somewhere nearer to town.
we had booked for a addtional bed, but it was not prepared when we arrived. on the positive, the hotel was value for money. the spa/massage center is also a bit dodgy; i think they entertain a lot of "business" travellers. not suited for families with young children.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
its about 40 minutes from the airport and traffic was bad.
there is nothing 'interesting' within walking distance.

stay for one night before travel to lake toba and samosir island. the hotel provide transportation and driver that we can choose, according to our budget and number of group. very convenient, no need to find elsewhere. it is like a 'one stop center' where you can find everything in one place.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Must go to Lake Toba + Samosir Island + Berastagi. The scenery is amazing, you'll never find it anywhere else.
