lousy hotel!!
Nothing is good about this hotel!

the hotel gave me a room right next to their karaoke room - the loud music goes on till about 3am. when i asked to change rooms at 9pm when i checked in, they said the music would end at 12 midnite - this never happened. i had to demand they change my room at midnight when the music got unbearable.
why the lousy room?
i requested for a queen or king size bed when i booked - they gave me two single beds, then offered to push the beds together.
i was then awoken at 7am by the sound of loud drilling and hammering on the street below!
the hotel staff constantly try to rip you off by suggesting their expensive hotel 'taxi' rather than hailing you a cab.
their hotel pictures look nice but it's a rip-off!
they have no hair-dryers in their rooms and when asked, they couldn't be bothered to bring one up.
they then 'lose' my deposit! and i literally have to fight with them to get it back.
avoid this hotel like the plague!
Hotel Feature Tip:
1. Avoid it! Go somewhere else!
2. Merdeka Walk is nothing but a waste of time.
3. Call a taxi yourself rather than being ripped off by the hotel staff.

we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, even more so as we got an upgrade to the deluxe room. the roomrate is a good deal considering that the hotel was newly remodelled and included the breakfast. hotel is not too far from the merdeka walk which is a lively place on saturday evening. i can recommend this hotel to any traveller to medan.
Nightlife Tip:
Head to Merdeka Walk if you like to have a bite from a selection of local and Asian food. The Medan youngsters will provide you with entertainment.

the location near to town and shopping centre. convenient to get public transport. spacious room and nice interior. however, should avoid room at end-row because there's unpleasant smell as i guess caused by water leaking on the ceiling. overall, worth for money with good service.

Great small hotel with a friendly service

I stayed here for three nights and found that the service is surprisingly good. The staffs are friendly and the hotel have wifi in the lobby. Unfortunately, they don't have the internet connection in the room (but it doesn't bother me). The breakfast is reasonably good. Within walks, I can go to shopping malls and food court (merdeka walk) or take a public transportation (angkot). Compared to the price, the bedroom is great. Only the pillow that is really hard to sleep on. The hotel needs to pay attention on this, because as a busy traveler we need to have a comfy pillow to rest.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
call for blue cab taxi....the only taxi use meter and have good attitude.

grand sakura organized an airport pick up for us and it was great to see your name and getting a quick service out of the airport especially since the flight arrived one hour late. the staff processed the check in fast. the room is comfortable, has tea and coffee facilities, good water pressure in the shower.
breakfast was great. it offered a number of choices, both western and oriental style.
we have enjoyed our stay at the grand sakura in medan. in fact we have booked an extra night stay.
