during the 3 day 2 night stay at this hotel, very satisfying for both of us. the rooms are very clean and provided a bit wide. breakfast is provided so delicious and suits us. service from hotel staff is very kind and friendly. in addition, the hotel also has connecting with the cambridge plaza. it is also close to the central sun plaza shopping and restaurant airlines (rice field) which is only a walk to get there.

It offers all you need for a short stay in the city. It would serve well enough for longer, except there is very little to detain you in Medan. Unusually comfortable beds for Asia, and a good choice at breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
I failed to find a single tourist attraction within the city itself. It is very much a working city (and as such pleasant enough).

I would call the Swiss Belhotel my second favorite hotel in Medan. Though I slightly prefer the higher gloss and polish of the JW Marriott (very close by - you can see it from the roof) I must admit that Swiss Belhotel is a very good value, starting with the fact that it is quite similar to the JW Marriott, yet is half the price of the JW! In addition the Swiss Belhotel joins onto its own mini-mall, with a good set of basic needs shopping (grocery store, pharmacy, sporting goods, etc) which also has an Extremely Good Gym (in the mall) to which hotel guests have Free access. The internet here worked fine (and was Free!) and the dinner and breakfast buffets were admirable even if not quite as splendid as the JW. I would most likely stay at the JW, but this would absolutely be my second choice.

Stayed there for 5 nights-no problems, nice but smaller rooms, clean, new, very helpful staff, perfectly located for eating and shopping.
Shopping Tip:
Cambridge mall adjacent to the hotel, Sun Plaza mall 5 mins walk away on the main street. Restaurant Pondok Angka just around the corner 7mins walk behind the steel bridge.

i came to stay here to play golf in medan. the hotel was quite busy, in the room next to me was a big family which caused a lot of nice deep into the night, so the sleep could have been better. otherwise everything went well, nice swimming pool with glass walls. behind the hotel is a great vegetarian restaurant, socrates. i really enjoyed that for some reading.
Restaurant Tip:
Socrates is a great vegetarian restaurant, and virtually next door is Medan Vegetarian which offers fast food, not so culinary pretentious but still ok. Then there is a nice Indian Restarant, Cahaya Baru acrooss the main road

Since the first time I when Medan and this is the first hotel I choose and subsequently I visit medan again and this is the hotel I prefer. I would say the hotel is nice and clean and also very comfortable when the stay at this hotel.
