JW Marriot, Classy yet disappointing
Good facilities as what every 5 star hotels are expected to have
8.3
To be honest, the hotel is not so much of a JW-Marriot-5-star-hotel thing.
It was indeed hard to find a place to sit whilst we queue to check in to our rooms. There were NO sofas available near the reception.
Wifi is a pay-to-use system, which is a rather minus for a 5-star hotel. With the current competition, even a 3-4 star hotel gives wifi facilities...
It was again disappointing when the daily housekeeping failed to see that the bath gel is no more and must be replaced, until we have to actually call them in just to get a bath gel right after a tiring travel.
Anyone going for this hotel? I'd recommend Grand Aston instead.

The hotel was superb. Excellent lobby deco. Good staff response and service. The room with transparent glass were so romance. The bed and pillows were so comforting and make me don't want to leave the room which resulting to have in-room dining. The food served was excellent and didn't took long time to arrive. And the breakfast....the landscaping, setup and choice of food were beyong excellence and very satisfying..love the environment and the area...make me sad to check out

Travel tip:
if you decided to go to Lake Toba my suggest is to take a trishaw to Merdeka Walk at 10,000 ruph to hire a private MPV with 8 seater at 600,000 ruph compair to other travel agent charge at 750,000 ruph,it is safe bt the journey takes abt 4 hours drive and dont forget on the way back drop Prastagi beautiful water fall,.

luxurious hotel for cheap! infinity swimming pool on the roof is a great experience! food and drinks in the bar and restaurant are overpriced though and not that special, breakfast was sublime however!

Nice hotel
great facilities and nice room
9.7
we arrived early about 9am at the hotel and they let us check-in immediately. We were grateful of that as most hotel would not allow early check-in. We were thinking of leaving our luggage there and continue with our tour. The room was probably the best in Medan with great view of the city. The morning breakfast was also great. There were many choices of food to choose from local to western. We really had a great time in JW Marriote Medan. Would definitely come back here again.

Definately my 1st choice in Medan
really worth it! good hotel, esp facilities & friendly staff.
9.7
A clean, warm & cosy place! Really good Food & Beverage, especially the breakfast & Chinese Restaurant foods, recreation, facilities & etc... Reasonable room rate & not pricy F & B. Located in safe zone of city centre, nearby with 1 small shopping mall - Deli Plaza. Quick responds in assistance requests, such as calling cabs, seeking advice for Medan town information.
Restaurant Tip:
Pls try hotel - Jade Restaurant foods!

Review about staying at J W Marriot in Medan
Hotel room is very nice and clean, anything you need you can find inside, the hospitality very good, I like the pillow very much, because very smooth and clean.

The location of JW Marriot Medan is very close to the city center and within a walking distance to the Merdeka Walk where you can have lunch or dinner until midnight with a variety of local foods at reasonable prices. The room is clean and hotel's staffs are very friendly. The breakfast is also very nice. The only problem we found was the dificulty from my room to my children's room at different floor. I or my husband had to meet our children at the lobby before bringing them to our room or vice versa. It may be caused by security requirement but it creates inconvenient after all.
Restaurant Tip:
Nelayan Restaurant very close to the hotel
