This is my third time to stay at this hotel.
Everything is nice except the smell in the room & bath. Something like the smell from mosquitos spray.
Perhaps can consider to have free wifi in the room.

We stayed in this hotel before and after doing jungle trekking over in Bukit Lawang. The room was clean and comfortable which was exactly what we needed after a long flight and then after camping out in the jungle! we also got an excellent deal on agoda.com. The only negative was the reception and the staff attitude

its a good place to stay for business travelers in the sense of spending a night in medan. the place is in jalan surabaya is a bit hectic during rush hours so i would suggest you plan your day ahead. apart from you get a clean and medium size room. staffs are friendly and you wont complain for the amount you are paying.

The hotel's location is very strategic in downtown, the hotel lobby design is very attractive sun roof with full of art works along the wall "very eye-catching"', it' very easy to find food at the hotel restaurant or just walking past the back of the restaurant will fond all kind of local famous foods, We enjoyed our stay here, every thing was perfect for both of us, clean room, a/c, reasonable restaurant, felpful and friendly staff, instead of 4d3n we extend it to 6d5n.

We stayed at Swiss Belinn for 1 night en route to Danau Toba. Check in was aa breeze except for the fact that the staff requested for a security deposit of Rp300,000 to be swiped with my credit card - no cash accepted. Their modus operanti - they will return you your original charge slip that you signed if there was no damage to the room.
The chinese eateries in the street at the back of the hotel were some of the more expensive Medan food that we had. A packet of chicken rice cost Rp25,000! Taste wise, it was good but in Singapore where I come from, I can get chicken rice at that price too or even less. A steamed bun filled with either roast pork or red bean cost Rp 7,000. The hawker food were either hits or misses. Stick to the stalls drawing the crowds.
We were mentally prepared for the "dark" toilet as mentioned in the various posts earlier. The tiles in the toilet were complete jet black and absorbed any light cast upon them - making the place seem dark. Not a problem! Water pressure was good and toiletries were well stocked.
The room had a low humming sound like that from a generator of sorts (we stayed on level 9) which was alright for us but may not go well with sensitive sleepers. We blasted the aircon at 16 degrees celsius but only managed to get a room that was cooled to 26 Degrees all night.
The tea & coffee making facilities were very well appreciated as was the sumptuous spread for buffet breakfast (considering the relatively cheap price for the room).
Some more peeves include: The lifts have a security feature that needs you to swipe the access card before pressing the level of your room, However, they only provide 1 card and whoever goes as a couple or family must move in and out of the room together or risk being stranded at the ground floor as the card is also needed to "connect" the electrical power to the room.

Swiss Belinn is a good budget hotel to stay in Medan. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. Good range of food for buffet breakfast as well. There are also some food stalls behind the hotel so it's convenient to find food in the evening.
