My stay was short. However the staffs were helpful and accommodating. Breafast was ok and acceptable. Rates were reasonable when on promotion.

4 and a half star, a bit much

Tiara Hotel advertises as a 4 and a half star hotel. Problem is that they do that already for a long long time without too much renovation in the hotel. In the mean time there are many other hotels being built in Medan. Anyway, one can guess the problem. I don't mind too much about it it because I can handle a bit of sloppiness. But Tiara offers still good food and it is still close to Sun Plaza the most glitzy plaza from Medan. Staff is reasonable friendly and like to help in their own style. The lobby could do with a bit less smokers and wifi should be extended free of charge to all rooms. The fitness facility really needs to be renovated, it is a shame the way it is now.
The ac stopped working in my room and i was upgraded after a lot of complaining.
Shopping Tip:
Sun Plaza is the best shopping plaza in Medan and it is on 10 minutes walking distance. Next to Sun Plaza is the Hindu Temple, which is worth seeing, and on the other side the governor's office, an old colonial office that used to be the head-office of a tobacco research station.

Nice rooms w/tub and hot water

The Tiera is where we have stayed the most as it is convenient for us to book there. But it is not on the main street so is in quieter area. It is still easy to walk to the malls and other shopping or the taxi is not too expensive . the breakfast is ok. but not the best. It is not kept hot, and there is not much choice for hot drink coffee or black tea only.the rooms are nice but small windows.they do have bath tubs. It was a really good buy for the money.
Restaurant Tip:
The restaurant on the roof is quite nice for a romantic dinner.It isn't too pricey either.

hotel is situated in the city, easy accessible, within walking distance, just minutes away from local restaurant and shopping area. hotel staffs are friendly and helpful to assist with transportation arrangement for our golf trip and recommended nice restaurant for local food. will recommend this hotel for short stay for leisure and business

the hotel is not in the very best location for walking to shops, but it is very nice, and comfortable. It is easy to get taxis, and the staff is very helpful. The internet is not good in the rooms. its better in the lobby. But it does work. the breakfast is a nice buffet of mostly asian foods.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Toba Lake is very awesome and very worthwhile ddriving to. The rooms are not expensive, and they are on the the lake. We hope to go back again soon

Location not bad but old hotel

hotel is very old and the staff too but at least they are very friendly. i was at my dream hotel for the first 3 nights and thought would upgrade to tiara but it is a very old hotel.

It was a nice clean hotel with large rooms. the beds are very comfortful and they have bathtubs. the staff very helpful and the breakfast is large and adaquate.
Shopping Tip:
The shopping area in the triangle is an excelant place to shop. There are small shops and really nice big malls. But if you are out at night be aware of thieves. We had one that claimed to b a tourist police officer Do not take large amounts of money or passpports out with you.
