the tiara is good value for money, it is getting older but maintains good customer service. the staff are helpful and polite, the rooms are clean (carpet a little musty but renovations are underway so in the near future i am sure this will no longer be an issue)and the resturant serves a good range of foods for both the evening and breakfast buffet. it is very convient for a short stopover and has a good airport shuttle service.

I enjoyed my stay at Tiara Hotel Medan, the staff were super friendly, the room is spacious with complete in-room facilities a hotel should have. It is located on a quiet street and good for resting. Also within a walking distance from one of Medan's big mall, Sun Plaza. The only problem was getting taxi, either we have to walk all the way to the bigger street or call taxi by phone.
Overall, I'd like to stay there again.

well located near the city center in Medan this hotel and convention center is recommended for the travelers who want to stop over for a day in Medan on their way to lake Toba.
The price is right for this 4 star old style hotel while the condition of the bathroom will need some improvement as well as the breakfast. In overall still have satisfaction of my stay there just for a day.
Friendly staff and close to the biggest mall in Medan

pricing:
actually i am not sure between the 2 prices quote for a superior room ie rm and rm(i think.... i booked the rm room. what is the differences?
room:
a bit run-down but basically clean.only non-smoking room available and this is very inconvenient for smokers like my husband.
other facilities:
apparently the hotel is under renovation, thus the "entertainment wing" seems vary dark and no activity. we had to go other places to seek some good life music although we sat for a while at the lounge area at the hotel.
breakfast:
most of the food are not available, except for some bread when we had our breakfast at 09.00 am.
future bookings:
not until the renovation work is completed.
staff:
excellent and very friendly. they "seems-not-to-wait" for tips like most similar hotels we have stayed in medan where the staff seems to "expect" some tippings.

The room was clean and comfortable.The only setback is the bathroom. There was no drainage outlet on the bathroom floor.Have to bath in the bathtub.Excess water is stagnant on the floor.Each time after bathing have to call room service to dry the floor.Less choice of food for breakfast.Hotel wifi was slow or unable to connect.
Shopping Tip:
The hotel is walking distance to shopping centers and town.Medan is not a shopping destination.
