The Equatorial Obelisk is 11 kilometers out of town – a short and inexpensive journey by bus, and the Kapuas River is within walking distance of the hotel. The adventurous Epicurean will love the array of street food available nearby, while the less adventurous will appreciate the restaurants on-site. Be sure to try the local delicacy ‘pisang maning’, a delicate mix of fried banana and grated cheddar cheese. Enjoyed my stay at Santika.
The bed and room was very comfortable and staf very attentive. A few of the staf can speak English so no worries for international travellers.
Free and very fast Internet. The only complaint I have here is when using my iPad. It keeps refreshing every 5-10 seconds asking me to log in over and over again. Very annoying. But there's no problem with my laptop, many hours of use on very fast wifi.
The rooftop pool was great and the gym well equipped. I especially enjoyed the spa, with jacuzzi, steam and sauna.
The breakfast selection was impressive. But the room service menu is only good with Indonesian food, the Western food still need to improve. However, there are plenty food places walking distance from the hotel so this is not a problem.
Overall, highly recommended.
