Superb accommodation and facilities in one of Indonesia's most beautiful and well maintained historical buildings. Very professional and well trained staff, great food, free Internet. There is nothing more could one wish for.
I cannot fault this hotel in any way.
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Having travelled extensively through Indonesia in countless cities and towns in Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi, there is no doubt that this hotel was by far the best we experienced. A gorgeous building, fabulous room and superb bathroom, attentive professional staff, great food, free Internet, fabulous large swimming pool.
Restaurant Tip : Chinese cuisine in the hotel's Sarkies Restaurant is pricey but superb.

Rust on bathroom fittings, so lack of water pressure

Tourist information
It was good experience staying in Hotel Majapahit.
The architecture and furniture is grand, gives feeling of a palace. Ambience is quite and fresh.
Service and food is awesome.
Nearness to the major city area gives an additional star to its rating.
Most important is co-operation of staff and feedback service. Everyone was ready to give information, even the out of box ones.
Overall, it stands well to its rating.
Hotel Feature Tip : Nearness to city makes it a very good option to stay in Surabaya.

Historical building. Very well preserved. Magical ambience. Excellent service. Peacefull in the middel of bustling Surabaya. The gardens are beautifull. The pool and the gym are great. The food is great too.
I couldn't use the Wi-Fi internet connection in my room.
We were upgraded to an Executive Suite with out even request it. The room was huge, beautiful and full of charm and the garden view from our terrace was wonderful. The peaceful gardens are a must in Surabaya chaotic city. Food is excellent in all the restaurants but I specially recommended Sharkies Seafood restaurant, one of the best fine Chinese restaurants in Surabaya.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Not far from the Hotel (10 Min. by taxi) a visit to House of Sampoerna It is really worth it.

Great ambiance, great staff, great spa, great spacious rooms and two restaurants. Right next to the mall (in the event you need that sort of thing)
What a pleasant surprise to come to Majapahit after an hour's drive from the airport. Very welcoming and helpful staff, the rooms are extremely pleasant, to the point where you almost do not want to leave the room, but the spa is always a good excuse to go out. Its historical cache is also a definite plus point, as it has real character.
Travel tip : Ask staff for tips they have all the inside information.

Beautiful historical hotel, great service, great staff and very nice spacious rooms
The "indigo" restaurant - tacky, cheap, bad service, bad food
Upon arriving check in was handled efficiently by the friendly staff. The hotel, built in 1910, is a very well kept colonial building, very impressive. The room (exec suite) was large and comfortable with large bathroom and separate lounge area. Nice gardens throughout the hotel.
The housekeeping staff are very friendly and efficient and willing to assist with anything. Location of the hotel is close to the central business area and large shopping malls, but a 10min taxi trip from the"Old Town"
Restaurant Tip : Eat in the lobby or Pool Bar - avoid the Indigo Restaurant

Classy, has character, mystique and beautiful.Food at the Sarky's (Chinese restaurant) was exquisite. The place is well maintained. Hotel reasonably priced and staff are very welcoming. They (the staff) go all out to please you.
The Steam room was out of order. I found the breakfast very simple and a lack of choice. The Pool was nothing great but any way Surabaya is not a place for beach goers.
Love the Hotel, value for money, the staff are down to earth, polite, very helpfull and always assisting and are ready at your service. Cleanliness is also extremelly good and of high standard. Will surely go again and again and again

-the building
-the pool
-the smile
Add some gazebos at the garden.
Indeed the outer building of this Hotel Majapahit is white with some stroke of grey. But the real color beneath inside is undeniably brilliant and shining. I was touched with the warm and sweet welcoming smile from the staff once we step into the hotel. And..guess what, the moment when i opened my room's door, oh i can feel that this is really a sanctuary for me to rest after spending the full shiny day around Kota Surabaya.
I am a designer. I was impressed with how the management retain the aesthetic value of the original Hotel Oranje. As I toured around Plaza Tunjungan, I found out that there are several more iconic hotels nearby, but I don't think I did the wrong choice. I just love the scenic view; the fountain, the green grass, the fragrance of morning dew and of course the smile of Surabaya.

Relaxing, good location, historical
having more of a courtyard design, sometimes the parties in the center area can be noisy - but only for a limited time. And the parties are family-friendly
We stay at the Majapahit almost every time we come to Surabaya. It's quaint, relaxing and within walking distance of a Starbucks
Shopping Tip : The nearby mall has my wife's favorite Indonesian store: Batik Keris

Great atmosphere; big rooms; great service
getting a little old; misquotes
My wife and I loved the feel of the Majapahit hotel! The staff was so kind and had someone waiting for us at the airport to pick us up just as we had requested. We had also requested a baby crib in the room for our baby girl and there was one waiting. The rooms were big. Plenty of room to relax. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem was it may be getting a little run down and there were a lot of misquotes. Loved our stay and will stay there again!

Beautifully restored colonial era buildings, pleasant gardens and peaceful atmosphere. Large, comfortable suite with an individual feel to the furniture and luxurious and spacious bathroom. Very good value for money. Perfect in every way.
Only very minor matters: We were disappointed that smoking was permitted in the foyer, and were surprised that the napkin and knife provided with the fruit bowl on arrival were not removed from the room when dirty.
We loved the spaciousness and old world comfort of our suite, and appreciated the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful and historic building. Luxurious yet understated, the hotel and its grounds are truly delightful. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and efficient in every respect. The stunning art deco foyer is not to be missed, especially at night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't miss the House of Sampoerna museum and cafe, for more of the same atmosphere at Hotel Majapahit.

Heritage exterior and interior design; spacious bedroom and bathroom
swimming pool not so clean
I always stay in Majapahit Hotel when I'm visiting Surabaya. This hotel is a wonderful heritage hotel in Indonesia. Awesome!!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Majapahit hotel is nearby the biggest shopping mall (Tunjungan Plaza) only 3 minutes walk.
There's a sub-marine monument (Pasopati) 10 mnts car/taxi riding.

The swimming pool and spa were exceptional and the men's gym had a marvellous jacuzzi sauna and steam room. The restaurant INDIGO served wonderful food at both dinner and breakfast.
The steam room was rather cool.
The room my partner and I were given was really beautiful and comprised a lounge area, bedroom section and magnificent black and white classic bathroom with gold taps. There were fresh flowers and a newspaper delivered each morning in a little gold embossed bag. We enjoyed the huge swimming pool and the gym and spa facilities as well as the excellent food in the restaurant.
Shopping Tip : Several excellent shopping malls are close to the hotel.

The hotel is built in colonial style and rooms are approached along open teraces overlooking pristine landscaped gardens. A very tranquil setting. Rooms then have their own individual verandas. I fell in love with the place before I even stepped into my room. The room itself was large and masculine in decor - perfect for me a man trsavelling alone. Plenty of storage space with proper wooden coat-hangers. The bathroom too was spacious and well ventilated. As well as the bath there is a walk in shower (hooray) although the only mark against the room and indeed the hotel is the shower fitting is overhead only with no extension to properly shower one's nether regions.
The pool is a proper 25metre swimming pool and not a kiddies'paddling pool like so many pool hotels which they have the nerve to describe as swimming pools. Perfect water temperature and pleasant palm tree surround.
Breakfast buffet is very good and far better than those of other 5 star hotels. I also ate in the restuarant on the two evening I spent in Surabaya and both meals were excellent.
I leave my last remarks for the most deserving, the staff. They were wonderful in every way
Surabaya has a number of international holels; Marriott, Shangri-la, Sheraton. If you wish to stay with any of them I suggest leave it for another city. If you are in Surabaya look no further than this wonderful hotel
Shopping Tip : The hotel is located moreorless across from the Tunjungan Mall, the largest in Surabaya

Hotel staffs.
Cleanliness.
Food.
Difficulty in internet access
All Hotel staffs are friendly and trying to help customers as much as they can.
Breakfast and chinese food are delicious.
Cleanliness in the hotel is excellent. I like bathroom there especially the water, it makes me easier to wash my long hair. All facilities are completed.
Staying in the hotel make me feel like I'm home.
I encountered internet access down time the first day I've checked-in, but it's ok.
Anyway, there're some guests still smoking in the lobby. I think it occured naturally in everywhere in Indonesia.
