Great location near by so many big shopping mall.
Smiling service but the breakfast food is average not very nice.
Shopping Tip:
there are great Shopping Center and night life in Surabaya. View the Suramadu Bridge.

probably one of the first international type hotels in surabaya,now very slightly faded; but all facilities, and visitors are almost all indonesian, much better than other hotels which may have many ex-pats. good views of the river, and close enough to walk to the nearest shopping mall. next door to rail station. better value than the other international hotels.

i've stayed here for a night, and unfortunately they gave me the unrenovated room, as i was expected the room was quite obsolete, the furniture, the bathroom, but still quite clean though, most of the rooms that are newly renovated are real nice, but there were still some unrenovated ones..and i've stayed at the unrenovated ones..you should asked for the renovated rooms if you stayed at this hotel.
nothing special with the food, and the service is okay... and the advantages of this hotel is the location, its right next to the train station, some shopping malls, a submarine landmark, and next to the main road.
surely if all of the rooms are finished renovated, this hotel is going to be more nice..

My room was on the back side of the building and I experienced a disturbing and very loud noise of the railway station right behind the hotel during at late night and dawn, eventhough i already requested for a high floor. The interior condition was the same as other comments quite old and smell cigarettes everywhere (in the bedroom also). Bathroom and toilet looked so classic just like i turn back time for the eighty's.
Travel tip:
If you arrived there late evening. Don't be afraid unable to find any good and clean restaurant. Walk across the river bridge for 5 mins, you'll find the moderate size shopping mall. There you can select every styles of dinner.

The place needs renovating. I Will not be staying here again that is for sure. Definately would recommend staying somewhere else if you can.
This place is a bit run down. There was water leaking from the ceiling on the bathtub. some of the tile is shabbiness and damage. The room smelled a bit funky. The train line runs right behind the hotel and is a bit noisy. The place needs some serious renovating. the bedsheet is getting shabby, not clean and have spot. very poor in quality for the big name like Sahid.
The qualiti of the food also Poor.

Look elsewhere in Surabaya
The staff were friendly and I got to see the Shark and Crocodile statue. That's about all I can say to the good of this place. The Martabak stand in the Lobby looked nice, but I was always full when I passed it. (20k rp for Martabak Telur)

The place needs some serious renovating. Quite sad really as the Sahid Jaya in Jakarta is a great Hotel and I have stayed there many times. My bad for trusting in the name alone and not reading a review. Will not be staying here again that is for sure. Definately would recommend staying somewhere else if you can.
Shopping Tip:
Visit Surabaya in May (around the city's birthday), malls were offering upto 70% off on late night shopping

SAHID HOTEL SURABAYA...GOOD VALUE

An okay hotel for a night or two in a fairly polluted overcrowded city. My advice is to get out into the countryside of Java and experience the real thing!
Nightlife Tip:
Very close to the main drag where a swag of good restaurants abound and taxis so cheap and drivers honest (ours were anyway)
