Great old world hotel (built 1918) fused with modern new world service.
- Restaurant Tip : Must try "nasi padang" when in Jogjakarta. Cheap and good!! Try the local "Baso" (meat ball soup noodles) too
Excellent

This is indeed a very nice hotel all around and I have no hesitation in recommending it to all to stay here.
- Travel tip : Go on the tours to the temples - very good but book with locals if you have time as it is cheaper and they provide good guides .

- Restaurant Tip : Nice food across the road opposite the hotel in this restaurant, Tiga Nonya. It serves Peranakan food. A little pricey as compared to the standard of living in Yogya but satisfying.
I made the right choice.

Heard a lot about the grand mercure and it generally lives up to its reputation. The colonial-style architecture and decor creates a wonderful ambience. The resident pianist at night was great and his music mixed with the fountain in the inner courtyard made for something special. One place where you want to take your time and soak in the atmosphere. There is also a lounge/bar for those wanting something more trendy and upbeat.
