Hotel Ibis Malioboro Yogyakarta Info
Considered by many to be better than the high-end hotels in the region, the 150 well-appointed rooms are an relatively undiscovered treasure. The hotel is centrally located for business and right on the street that is famous for its shopping. It is located just 40 minutes from one of the forgotten Seven Wonders of the World, Borobudur Temple, which is something that travelers should not miss while in the region. All types of food can be found in the area, but have a look at the pizza joint in the basement which serves shocking tasty pizza pie. Overall, for the money, this just might be the best hotel in the entire region. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Location very convenient for shopping.
Air-con leaking in our room. Dissapointed with inexpereince massuer for the body massage package (the Spa which was based at this hotel).
This is our first visit to Yogyakartaand and it was a pleasant one. The only regret was that we should have stay a bit longer as there are so many more places to visit. We were here for on;y 3 days 2 nights. The first day on arrival, we did our shopping for the lovely batiks. On our 2nd day, we hired Toyota Avanza for 10 hours (5 of us) to take us around to this lovely Borobudor & Prambanan Temple. No doubt it's a short trip, but we truly enjoyed our stayed here.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : This hotel are located right spot of Malioboro shopping area, where you can get beautiful batiks. No one should miss Borobudor Temple (entrance fee 120,000 rupiah or USD$11), the biggest Buddha temple in the world (UNESCO World Heritage List No 592) built in the 8th Century & Prambanan Temple (entrance fee 110,000 rupiah or USD$11), the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world (UNESCO World Heritage List No 642) built in the 7th Century (unfortunately some of the beautiful temples was badly damaged and crumbled by the MAy 2006 Java earthquake).

Clean and functional hotel. Has a nice pool to relax in after a day at Brodour. The restauarnt is mediocre and expensive. Close proximity to the street shops. Relatively quiet. There are no room safes. Very near to Sultan's palace. Near to Garuda booking office and moneychangers. The connection to the mall is useful as there is a grocery store on the ground floor.

Service with a smile, helpful. Location very convenient as it is within walking distance to shopping area.
Room Air-con leaking. Shower leaking. The hotel Spa centre was our bad expereinced. The masseurs are inexpereince not only one but all. 2 young ladies & 2 gentlemen who did the body massage and scrub for us are the lousiest we have ever expereince. Not worth the money spent... Thought we can have a good relax massage after a long day trip, but to our horror, we do not feel anything at all...very dissapointed.
We enjoyed our stayed in Yogyakarta, Indonesia very much no doubt it's just a short trip. We only spent 3 days 2 nights (7 Nov - 9 Nov 2009) here and sort of regretted not staying longer as there are many other interesting places that we have missed. On the first day of arrival in the afternoon, we take the chance to do our shopping. Was very excited and happly for the hotel we stayed are so close to shopping area. So, no time wasted as it's just across the road. On the 2nd day, we hired Toyota Advance to take 5 of us around. We visited Borobudor Temple, the biggest Buddha temple in the world under UNESCO World Heritage List No 592, which was built in the 8th Century. No on should miss this beautiful place. We were in fact not happy with the Sales Counter for overcharging my Indonesian sister-in law, she was asked to pay the same rate as us that is 120,000 rupiah eventhough she showed her passport to them. They refused to accept and reiterated that she need to produce her Identity Card as proof which i find it is absurb and silly. Reluctantly she paid the same entrance fee as International tourist for we find no point argueing with this stubborn head Sales Representative who keep saying no and it wasted our time too. Overall we enjoyed Borobudor so much. Our next site was Prambanan Temple, the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world under UNESCO World Heritage List No 642, which was built in the 7th Century. The tempels are beautiful, but unfortunately some of the beautiful temples was badly damaged and crumbled by the MAy 2006 Java earthquake. All in all its is a pleasant holiday.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Borobudor Temple - a must visit.
Choose this hotel - lots of batiks shop around.
Spa Centre in this hotel - not recommended.
