Clean and functional hotel. Has a nice pool to relax in after a day at Brodour. The restauarnt is mediocre and expensive. Close proximity to the street shops. Relatively quiet. There are no room safes. Very near to Sultan's palace. Near to Garuda booking office and moneychangers. The connection to the mall is useful as there is a grocery store on the ground floor.

Staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Location very convenient for shopping.

Air-con leaking in our room. Dissapointed with inexpereince massuer for the body massage package (the Spa which was based at this hotel).

This is our first visit to Yogyakartaand and it was a pleasant one. The only regret was that we should have stay a bit longer as there are so many more places to visit. We were here for on;y 3 days 2 nights. The first day on arrival, we did our shopping for the lovely batiks. On our 2nd day, we hired Toyota Avanza for 10 hours (5 of us) to take us around to this lovely Borobudor & Prambanan Temple. No doubt it's a short trip, but we truly enjoyed our stayed here.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : This hotel are located right spot of Malioboro shopping area, where you can get beautiful batiks. No one should miss Borobudor Temple (entrance fee 120,000 rupiah or USD$11), the biggest Buddha temple in the world (UNESCO World Heritage List No 592) built in the 8th Century & Prambanan Temple (entrance fee 110,000 rupiah or USD$11), the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world (UNESCO World Heritage List No 642) built in the 7th Century (unfortunately some of the beautiful temples was badly damaged and crumbled by the MAy 2006 Java earthquake).

I Stayed at the Ibis hotel Yogyakarta for the second time during november 2009.The Ibis is perfectly located in Malioboro road, which provides easy access to shopping malls restaurants and cultural attractions. The Ibis hotel is more typical of a mid range modern western hotel and therfore it does not provide the tropical indonesian expirence. However it is clean, convenient, reasonably appointed and the staff polite and helpful.I would definitely again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The bus service in Yogyakarta a great way to get around cheap, clean and air conditioned.

The convenient location helps me get around without a worry. The hotel is a stone throw away from the batiks & handicraft shops and market. I don't have to travel far to get souveniers for friends and family. Friendly staff make you feel welcomed.

The room is small and lack indonesian feel...The hotel should incorporate the rich Indonesian culture in the room.

I was overwhelmed with excitement when I realised that the hotel is just a walking distance from the Malioboro popular tourist area. I could move around easily without having to worry about transportation. The 'becak'(trishaw) and 'Andong' (horse carriage) rides add fun to my stay in Yogjakarta.

Shopping Tip : Don't be afraid to bargain, bargain & bargain. Be adventurous...take the 'becak' and 'Andong' rides round the city of Malioboro.

Location is super, especially if you are the shopping type.alk out of your hotel right into a modern shopping mall and onto "Main" street...Malioboro. Whenever there is a festival such as the aniversary of the founding of Yogyakarta, the parade passes by the hotel. The Kraton is within walking distance and the night scene is quite interesting.Price is reasonable and affordable and basic amenities are adequate

The property is a little dated. The beds, although comfortable had sheets that could be cleaner. Those who have sensitive skins may have some problems here. The towels too could be cleaner. The plumbing in the bathroom too needs service attention as they sometime do not drain properly.

If you are travelling on a tight or reasonable budget, and willing to compromise on certain service standards like having sheets and towels looking less than prestine white and do not have sensitive skin problems, looking for a convenient and good location in Yogyakarta as a base this is not a bad hotel. Security is more than adequate, staff are friendly and food is not aproblem as if you do not want to eat in the hotel, there is plenty in the shopping mall adjacent to it, which you can access without even having to walk out into the street. It is a good basic hotel to stay in. Access to various tourist attractions are within easy reach. the tourism information centre is just down the street. if you like batik shopping you will be lost amongst many batik shops within walking distance. Overall, this may be good for a first timer in Yogyakarta.

Travel tip : you can get around Yogya using the TRANS-YOGYA BUS SERVICE WHICH IS CLEAN AND AIRCOND AND IN-EXPENSIVE.

Swimming pool, no bathtub

This hotel has a great location, connected directly to "Malioboro Mall" so we can go to the famous "Malioboro street" through this mall. The swimming pool is too small & the pool's staffs are not helpfull and no bathtub in superior room.

Shopping Tip : Malioboro Street, Mirota

Very close to the town and sights. Clean rooms with plenty of hot water.

Very expensive wifi. Security guards checking you every time you came in.

The Ibis is a good place to stay in Yogyakarta as its just off the main Malborough road (its actually attached to the biggest shopping centre). The rooms are large, clean and reasonably well appointed. There is wifi in the room but the cards are very expensive to buy (the large hotel chains really need to start providing this foc, like most of the budget places). We used the free public wifi in the adjoining shopping centre for a few hours which was ok. Security 'checking' you every time you come back in gets annoying, its not the checking its the fact that it's just tokensim, with none of the checks being carried out thoroughly - I wouldn't mind if it was done properly, just looking in the top of your back is not a security check it's pointless! The hotel is walking distance to the palace, museum, railway station and other sights. Ibis really need to fit safes in their rooms, its disappointing that a hotel chain of this size doesn't especially when cheaper hotels manage to - have small security boxes on reception is not the same, neither is it convenient. The laundry and restaurant were also expensive, which might explain why the latter was empty most nights, with the band sadly playing away to itself.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Just ignore the numerous men who try to befriend you or just start following you - their only aim is to get you into a batik shop and get you to pay over the odds so they get their commission. Don't be afraid to tell the persistent ones to go way or leave you alone as it's the only way to make them stop. If you do let someone 'guide' you around an attraction don't let this led to a visit to see how batik is made for the same reasons above. If you want batik, go to the shops unaccompanied.

Convenient for the station and other facilities

very busy road that you can struggle to cross in the evenings. Very expensive wifi connection charge, so much so that we took our laptop to Starbucks along the road and connected for free.

What you'd expect for an Ibis hotel except the expensive charge for the wifi connection. Room was large and clean although the water was only ever warm rather than hot. The hotel is located not too far from the railway station, national monument, museum and other facilities but is situated on a very busy road, which gets increasingly busy during the day and is grid locked in the evening. My husband was deliberately rammed by one of the barrow men and the barrow cut his leg, when we remonstrated with the man he brandished a litter pick hock at as, this almost opposite the hotel and police kiosk, we went to the police kiosk and the man disappeared but it wasn't a nice start to our trip to Jakarta.

Hotel Feature Tip : The wifi in the hotel is expensive so if you want to use the internet I'd suggest taking your lap top to Starbucks just along the road, where you can log in for free and drink coffee.

1. Location (center of city)

1. No bath tub

This hotel is fine for the price and in addtion, the location is best for the travellers enjoy the local atmospher. In cfact, the next of the hotel is a big shopping mall and many shops outside. And if you plan to use taxi for the sightseeing of the city or suburbs, it is very useful because the travel agent is inside the hotel.

Very Accessible

Relative expensive compared to other hotels

The morning call which we requested was never delivered. Luckily we had our alarm set at 5am as backup. Else our plane would have fly without us. Hotel has a business center, pool, sauna, gym and restaurant. The Hotel can also arrange transport to the airport for IDR40000 (from 7am) but also have 2 taxi on standby 24hours and only cost IDR30000.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There are many foot massage around the city, cost from only IDR35000 for 90mins. Remember to tip the hardworking guys. The hotel is right beside the shopping street stretching around 2km. Go the the side streets along Malioboro to look for tour agents to many tourist sites including Merapi, Dieng Plateau, Borobudur, Prambanan and many more at reasonably price.

Good Security at Hotel

Non Heated Pool

There is very good security in IBIS here. A guard will check all visitors and bags before allowing them in. The gym and sauna are small but very good for 2 person. The hotel provide 2 glass bottle of drinking water. Safe deposit is at the front office, no wifi in room, chargeable wifi in common area.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For Borobudur, take bus 5A to Jamboi then changed to local bus to Boro. (2-2.5hrs) Cost only IDR18000. For Prambanan, take bus 1A only IDR 3000. (45mins)

The hotel is right in the heart of the city

Lousy hotel restaurant.

Ibis Malioboro Hotel is right on the door steps of the city, the hotel is right beside the busy street vendors in Malioboro road. With very easy access to the hotel and the Boro and Prama temples. Bus cost only IDR3000 to the aiport. Becak cost IDR3000-10000 to go around the city. Hotel Pool is very small and on roof top, its quite cold to swim there.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Bus are a good transport around.
