A feature of the city since 1908, these 223 classic yet modern rooms facing the famous shopping street of Malioboro Street, are a real find. Originally built as a colonial hotel for the then occupying Dutch, the hotel has been continually renovated and now has a traditional Indonesian style, while maintaining a modern appeal that many guests find not only pleasant, but necessary. The rooms are very reasonably priced, and a wide variety of rooms from singles to suites are available. Close proximity to all major forms of travel and a wide variety of tourist locations make this a great find in the region. Check out the sites, get some unique shopping done, and then relax back by the pool. Regardless of the choice, it is hard to beat this centrally located, budget oriented establishment in Java. Due to its location and unique accommodation, it is an excellent place of stay.

Inna Garuda is ideally located at the top of Jogya's main strip, Jalan Malioboro. This property's look evokes the early 20th century colonial era it dates back to.
Basic service functions can be slow, even by the forgiving standards of the region. The recent renovations don't seem to be of the greatest build quality.
Jogyakarta's Hotel Inna Garuda is a classic colonial era property well situated on Jalan Malioboro. The property is decked out with all the expected trimmings, even three travel agencies by my count. The staff, while numerous are far from hurried, so allow plenty of time even for simple actions such as checking out. The food is well priced and diverse, although the staff's understanding of Western basics can be curious.
Nightlife Tip : A new bar opened in the ground floor of Inna Garuda late September 2009, and while staff assured me it would be full by 11pm there was scant evidence of human habitation by midnight.
