The location is a little too far from town at about 45 kilometres from the city of Jogyakarta, at the time of my stay I was the only guest, so it made the stay feel isolated

It’s so peaceful, quiet and serene you could easily believe that you are the only person on a deserted tropical paradise.
Yoglo Plawang is located approximately 20km away from Mt Merapi, it is within easy reach of most tourist attractions such as Borobudur and Prambranan. From the hotel, I set off at 5am with the driver to catch Merapi sunrise on a hilltop, followed by a 5mins drive to Borobudur temple. In addition, the hotel is located 7km away from the famous Gimbaran seafood restaurant, Sawa steakhouse and Hyatt Hotel.
Although some of the the frontline staff have limitation with English language, they are very polite, efficient and always eager to please. Live jazz in the hotel's restaurant is available Fri-Sun 7pm onwards.

A hideaway in the hills outside Yogyakarta

I enjoyed my stay at Joglo Plawang. The hotel straddles the main road and I chose a deluxe room on the opposite side to reception. This mean negotiating the river (which added to the excitement). My room (a traditional joglo design) was simple and clean. There was only one small window which means there's no view (a pity with the river just outside). The morning was beautiful and inspiring as I could sit outside on the verandah. The staff at the restaurant were great and the food was adequate. It's a hotel with loads of potential. Staff at reception were helpful and obliging. Overall a pleasant stay, although I think the hotel is a little expensive for what it provides.

I stayed two nights in the Junior Villa and it was spacious, beautifully appointed and comfortably rustic. The room had Wifi although there was a shortage of electrical outlets for charging camera, laptop, etc. It is rustic so there were a few creepy crawlies, which is to be expected when staying close to nature. The hotel leaves a nice fruit plate in the room, which was apparently inviting to an unknown night time visitor. I arrived after dark on a rainy evening and the staff greeted me with an umbrella and a friendly welcome drink. Breakfast is limited choice but good quality. I was out touring both days so only spent my evenings there and it was relaxing and quiet. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
I hired a great car/driver and visited Prambanan, Borodudur and Merapi (about 30 minutes away) the first day and spent the second day in the countryside and at Tawangmangu waterfall, about a 3 hour drive away but worth it.

Peaceful retreat

This is an ideal hotel for visiting the temple complex of Borobodur. The hotel is built inside lush vegetated forest with a stream running through the middle.
All rooms are individual and are different in design. They have a bungalow design. The public areas are typical Java decor making them and ideal place for food and drink. The hotel also provides drivers ata daily rate, to enable tourists to explore the area. This is a rfreshing change from the large International hotel chains.

Les bungalows sont vraiment dans la jungle.

A mon arrivée, j'ai demandé de changer de chambre , le standard room est vraiment petit et pas vraiment ventilé ,les bungalow sont super avec plein d'espace en pleine jungle avec le bruit de la riviére pour berceuse ,Séjour trés bien .

Sehr schönes kleines Hotel im traditionellen Indo-Stil (Holzschnitzereien in Zimmer, Essräumen). Ieal für alle die kleines, persönlcihes Hotel und nicht Kette wollen. Lage in Natur aber trotzdem recht nah zu den Highlights der Region. Angestellte freundlich, teilwesie aber sehr schlechtes Englisch
