it's a part of novotel chain hotel, so if you seen one, you've seen them all. modern, simple, and practical design and ambience.
the pool and gym is a bit too small to be a resort hotel, plus there is lack of garden, so this might suit business traveler.
the hotel is located next to a shopping mall, handy for shopping. also, it's easy to get around. recommended for a short stay.

my husband and i stayed at the novotel yogyakarta hotel for 3 nights. during our stay, we found that the staff were very polite and the service was efficient. one disadvantage of the hotel may be its location, for some, as it is not located near the popular malioboro shopping stretch. we found that it was actually an advantage to us as that meant that the hotel was not over-crowded and we were able to enjoy the various hotel amenities without feeling like we were elbowing fellow travellers. however, the hotel needs an overall, like maybe an upgrade in the tv and the interiors. otherwise, the hotel was adequate for our needs and we would definitely recommend it to others.

Comfortable hotel for business trip

This is my fourth time spending a night after a business trip. This is a cozy hotel after a tough and busy day. It is located near Galeria (department store), Gramedia (book store), and it's not difficult to find a place to eat
Shopping Tip:
many restaurants near the hotel and its only 15 minutes ride by Becak (the traditional transportation)

I have been here for 4 days, Its big and nice four star hotel.
Room is clean, but breakfast is fair. Comfortable and relaxing lobby lounge . over all I am satisfied. Its recommended for business and pleasure.

The hotel is located close to North part of Yogyakarta. Close to the city center, close to the airport, close to the campus . . . and it is located in a quiet area.

wonderful hotel for the price. ideal location for everything we wanted to do. great customer service by corry for helping us make phone calls and overcome some language barriers. good dining at the hotel although a little pricey, selection is nice.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
prambanan temple, borobudor at sunrise, water castle, sultan's palace, underground mosque
definitely try bale raos restaurant near the sultan's palace-excellent indonesian cuisine for a great price.

Comfortable hotel but smoky and not near centre

The room we stayed in (standard king) was large and very comfortable. We were woken every morning by a mosque, but that's pretty normal for Indonesia. As this is a large hotel breakfast was quite busy but staff managed to keep food resupplied and tables cleared. My main gripe is that this is a very smoky hotel - my guide book actually described it as a non-smoking hotel, but not only is it not non-smoking, but there's a very strong smell of smoke as soon as you walk into the hotel lobby as the hotel bar is just to the right as you enter.

Lovely hotel & nice location

My kids & I had a great stay at Novotel Yogyakarta during summer holiday this year, we enjoyed hired "becak" (the three wheel bicycle) just outside the hotel, it was cheap & becak guy took us around the town for some sightseeing. The hotel staff was helpful, the room was clean & the breakfast was great too! all in all we were happy with the hotel service.

"Lovely hotel, great location but lack of service"

lovely hotel with touch of yogya nature. over all my comment is ok. but since we traveled with young children and have experience one of the kids got sick. when we ask help to get some medicine was so difficult over there, no body in the hotel could help us to buy some medicine. since we didn't know yogya so that was not so good experience for us.
Restaurant Tip:
Local Cuisine : Gudeg Permata is the best.. :D
Seafood Restaurant: Mak Engking .. (location quite far but you won't beregret since the food especially Honey Prawn... is the best)
