Lovely colonial style, friendly staff, good location, lively bar.
Staying at this hotel made our stay in Yogya even more fun. It's in a good location - easy to walk into the city centre, simple to drive to places like Borobudor and Prambanan temples or the airport. The hotel itself is beautiful and combines history and beauty with style. The bar is a fun place to be on weekends. The only thing we didn't much like was the fairly limited breakfast compared to the price we paid for it.

Very convenient to central areas of town, tasty selections at restaurant
Upgraded to suite room in dark area of hotel
The hotel is very picturesque with colonial style woodwork and metalwork balconies. The restaurant is located in the courtyard -- although, sadly, the outdoor seats are reserved for smokers. This is probably a good thing if you allow smoking as the bar is dank and musty. We were upgraded to a suite room, which was nice, except that the refrigerator didn't work and the view was non-existent.
Hotel Feature Tip : Bring your laptop. Wireless is free, while computer time is charged.

The building is beautiful and captures the luxury of Yogyakarta's colonial past. The dinig area is complete with calming fish and the staff were helpful.
The rooms were too small and the balcony was off onto the street making it noisy. The hotel
The Mecure is a beautiful luxurious hotel which captures Yogyakarta's colonial past. The dinig area is complete with calming fish and the staff in the restaurant area were very helpful, espcially with my daughter. However, the rooms were too small and the balcony was off onto the street making the experience noisy not relaxing. The room service was not prompt in briniging a room menu to the room, which should have been in the room to start with.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take a becak down to Malioboro and go shopping at Mirolta batik the cheapest shop in town.

Excellent service, confortable, elegant, very affordable, good location near the city centre, wonderful buffet breakfast
Very good hotel, deserving its five stars. Everything is quite convenient, with a great buffet at breakfast and a good restaurant for the meals. Swimming pool, gym and spa. Very confortable rooms, very quiet and nice balcony giving over the swimming pool (must choose pool view rooms). Price very affordable for western customers (price of a 2 stars hotel in US or Europe). We will surely recommend this hotel to any visitor to Jojakarta, single, couple or family.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take a bicycle-taxi outside of the hotel for your trips around downtown, it s 5 minutes away...
Take a tour for Borobudur and Prambanan at tourist office, it s 100000 IDR per person for 1 day including both temples.

Overall this is one of the best hotels my friend and I have stayed at. The room is big, spacious and well-decorated. We had a beautiful balcony that overlooked the pool. Free wifi access. Staff were very helpful.
The layout of the hotel is a bit strange. Ask for a room near the elevator, otherwise you'll have a bit of a walk to get to your room. Pool was beautiful and well-maintained.
Room service breakfast is a bit expensive, but you get a huge amount of food. We ordered two American Breakfasts and easily had enough food for four people.
The hotel is a bit far from the main attractions of the city, but we managed to walk in about 40 minutes to the farthest away which was the Water Palace. The city seems pretty safe, but we didn't venture out very much at night. People are very interested in tourists there and we had a lot of people offer to help us find things or give us sightseeing tips.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't book tours or sightseeing through your hotel. Instead head to the tourist information office. They are government sponsored and they offer the same tours at a fraction of the price. We were very pleased with our Borobadur and Bromo trips that we booked through them.

The staffs are very friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant stay. The room is clean and with a lovely balcony.
Some tour guides are smoking near the reception area while waiting to pick up for their guests.
Overall, Grand Mercure Yogyakarta is a great place to stay and value for money. Staffs are very friendly and always ready to help. The food served at the hotel are quite good too. Good location and walking distance to the night market. If you do not want to walk, you can always call for a meter taxi and it's cheap.

the hotel was quite nice. i was able to relax and work in the hotel without any stress. pool is nice as well.
the atomosphere is good. i was able to relax and i was probably upgraded. considering the promotion at that time, the hotel was really worthwhile. breakfast was not included and it was not easy to find a restaurant near the hotel. if you want to try local food, many small canteens are available. easy to find around the hotel. this is one of the recommendable hotel if you wanna stay in a good hotel.

Excellent breakfast and nice pool.
I went to see Borobudur at 4am - when I returned at 10am my room was still not made up. More coordination please.
Absolutely delightful service and the staff was at all times extremely helpful. Very nice colonial and cosy interior and the rooms are great.
The 1918 Club membership at IR150,000 per room was good value for money. It included two free cocktails, snacks and two laundry items although the snacks could have been better. The piano player on the veranda however was fantastic!
Hotel Feature Tip : Very efficient room service.

architecture is nice. each room has a small, beautiful balcony.
the room is not really that spacious.
My dear friend lost a wallet here. I know it's her fault in the first place, but after we called the hotel staff, we were told later that the wallet was found in the room, but when we finally received the wallet, there was no money left! If the wallet was found in the room, then who else could have stolen the money except the service people there, especially one of the housekeeping personnel?! We are very sorry that the hotel didn't make any more effort to find out the money. But, oh, well, ..

Friendly customer services offered, hotel clean and it looks very grand.
A bit far from the town, but it is very convenient by grabing a cab.
A polite welcome with a very friendly guide given by the reception, make our trip more fruitful by reaching the destination (FREE & EASY TOUR), we found the local favoute food with help offered by the hotel customer services. If time allow, we will be back here again.

Nice hotel physically, clean and of good standard, friendly and pleasant staff across all categories, value for money. all the amenities of a 5 star stay. Very convenient to use TransYog Bus system-stations are just near to hotel. A IDR 2000 fare takes you all the way to Prambanan
too bad breakfast wasn't included. Rather expensive if cost of b'fast for 2 at IDR 192,000 relative to the room rate
As above
Restaurant Tip : Good restaurant just diagonally across the road in front of hotel Tiga Nyonya. Pizza Hut 50 m

For Agoda: Quick Service and fast response for booking of hotel. It is a good site. (I will use it again for next trip if they could do an improvement (listed below)) .
For Agoda: A traveler could not be easy to get a printer for printing of hotel voucher. Can you use a randomly generated booking number + traveler's identify (with photo) + nominated credit card for telling the confirmed hotel. Jayson
