Lovely hotel wouldn't stay in any other place

i love the interior of the hotel although some may find the rooms a bit small for a 5-star hotel. our room and the common areas are flawlessly clean. its really beautiful. i would just like to comment on the front desk staff because we asked for a wake up call and they failed to do it, so we ended missing our flight to singapore.
Restaurant Tip:
Ask the front desk staff for good restaurants.

this is a well managed property conveniently located in yogyakarta. the room is spacious. location wise is convenience and cab is just a call away with the help from hotel staffs. and amazing my room was upgrade to executive !

try out the in-room service. food is really good. not a good view though unless you take the rooms facing the swimming pool.
quite near to malioboro mall. about 5 mins drive.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Better to take a cab around the city as it cost cheaper than the trishaw.

A wonderful hotel with excellent staff

We go to Yogyakarta very often, but this time we chose the Phoenix because it was my birthday, and we wanted something extra. From the first moment we felt very welcome and well taken care of. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The view from our balcony was not much to write home about, but we had not asked for anything special. You should however be careful in the restaurant and bar, because the prices of drink are on the steep side...
Shopping Tip:
The Phoenix is in the centre of Yogyakarta with walking distance to the Malieboro Mall and just a short taxiride to the other two great malls. Also short distance to the Kraton.

Great location, but some rooms are rather small.
Ambience reminds one of charming European hotels.

the hotel has an extention at the back, which is quite a considerable walk from the front lobby.
many of the guests are foreigners, which probably means this is one of the upper class hotels in the area.
swimming pool is very small & rather shallow.

very nice heritage building. the staff were a bit stiff, and the food in the restaurant is okay. lovely room with very narrow bathroom, possibly because it was an old building.
Restaurant Tip:
Go the the Mangkubumi street nearby the hotel to sample some local food and local scene.
