Great location, but some rooms are rather small.
Ambience reminds one of charming European hotels.

the hotel has an extention at the back, which is quite a considerable walk from the front lobby.
many of the guests are foreigners, which probably means this is one of the upper class hotels in the area.
swimming pool is very small & rather shallow.

very nice heritage building. the staff were a bit stiff, and the food in the restaurant is okay. lovely room with very narrow bathroom, possibly because it was an old building.
Restaurant Tip:
Go the the Mangkubumi street nearby the hotel to sample some local food and local scene.

my room was delightful, but the housekeeping staff were too intrusive. instead of one visit they were constantly at the door, one with a towel, one with a cloth, one with sheets, one to turn down the bed (!) and one to ask if all the others had done their job.constant cries of "housekeeping" could be heard along every corridor all day. even with this, no water was delivered for two days nor was my minibar refurbished ( teabags were my issue!).
the restaurant had a limited menu of over pretentious food, very little of which was suitable for a vegetarian.
room service was quick and pleasant..
staff at the front of house could not have been pleasanter or more helpful. verdict: tries too hard to please.

beautiful heritage hotel with history starting right from the doorstep! we enjoyed our stay tremendously. we booked 2 rooms and the staff helped us to get two connecting rooms. room was spacious and very clean, staff were warm, friendly and helpful. the view from the balcony to the pool area is fantastic. highly recommended! we'll definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. We had a lovely room that overlooked that pool, that made us feel like we were in Monaco. The building has been lovingly refurbished. The staff is really top-notch. The breakfast in the patio was delicious serving both traditional Jogja dishes as well as western fare. A real treasure.

This is a very well managed property which is reflected in both the fine service and attention to cleanliness. The rooms are well furnished; comfortable; and quiet. I was unaware of anyone talking near my room. The 24 hour room service was especially appreciated due to jet lag as I was able to order regardless of odd waking hours. The inner courtyard dining options are attractive. The service is uniformly attentive, kind and prompt.

this hotel deserves its place as one of the finest in jogja. from the moment you walk through the entrance you know this will be a great experience. the hotel ambience is very appealing, and the architecture is regal and imposing. the staff are highly trained and also very friendly. the room was very comfortable. i found nothing in this hotel which did not please me. it was everything i expected from the photos i had seen and reviews i had read, and probably more. the leisure facilities were also excellent.

it was a wonderful and memorable stay at the hotel. the old european setting within the building is just lovely. it was also very cozy and clean. we received very good service from the moment we stepped in. the staffs were genuinely very polite and tries their utmost to please. they have quite a good breakfast buffet spread but more importantly, the food was to my liking. the coffee provided in the room was of a good quality. they also placed some 'buah salak', a local fruit, and gummy sweets in the room which was much appreciated. it was away from the busy malioboro shopping stretch but near enough that you can walk to get to it. on a whole, it was a fantastic stay and my only regret was i did not get to stay longer.

hotel beautiful staff very attentive couldn't do enough for you. food good, only down side was the location of the pool. when we were there they had some sort of conference on and the overspill at lunch was at the pool would have put you off if sunbathing.
