hotel beautiful staff very attentive couldn't do enough for you. food good, only down side was the location of the pool. when we were there they had some sort of conference on and the overspill at lunch was at the pool would have put you off if sunbathing.

Stayed here for 1 night and didn't spend much time. But from the limited hours spent, I could see that the interior decoration was tastefully done without being ostentatious and I have a ground floor room with a frontal view of the pool which seems awfully small, but I guess it is ok if you are going for a dip, but not training for the next Olympics.
Didn't try the food as I was outside most of the time and what surprised me most was the speed of the wireless connection. I previously stayed at another hotel where the wifi did it's best impression of a 14.4k dial up modem connection. But at Phoenix Hotel, I experienced great internet speed that is 1 of the best in all the hotels that I have stayed in. Only bummer is that you need to call the hotel reception to get a code for the wifi and if you need 2 devices to be connected to the internet, then you need to call the hotel reception to get 2 codes. But overall, I would stay there again if there is an opportunity.

Lovely hotel with friendly service
It has a lot of old-world charm and graciousness, thanks to the architecture, the multiple courtyards, the high, corniced ceilings and the ornate cast-iron staircases and old marble floors.

despite its small size and situation beside a busy room, the hotel is tranquille and serene. the other noises are shut out magically, although there are courtyards which are open air. the architecture did a great job in keeping sounds out and injecting the calm and graciousness of javanese people and their cilture. it was a perfect place to stay and to take your time exploring the fascinating city, then returning in the afternoon to have tea in the courtyard. the swimming pool courtyard was lush with green. the breakfast was marvellous, offering a splendid selection of food and drinks. the only small negative point was the uneven quality of some of the restaurant dishes, where i ate three dinners and one lunch. some of the local and asian dishes were tasteless and obviously just heated up when ordered.

Beautiful hotel, but food service was very slow

My experience was overall very pleasant. I loved my room (after I was transferred to a non-smoking room). The pool was an oasis after a busy day of sightseeing. I would have liked the pool to be open later. I had several meals at the hotel and besides the buffet breakfast, the service was extremely slow. There were many workers, but they seemed like they dis not know what to do.

Enjoyed staying here - its part of the Accor hotel chain, Mercure M Collection. Rooms nice and comfortable, with good bathroom. Staff very helpful and friendly. A small swimming pool, but was full of noisy kids diving and splashing, so not quite as relaxing as hoped!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Malioboro Street is a short walk away, filled with souvenir shops and food stalls. Lively and interesting to visit. There is a shopping mall with a passable food court.

A Gem of a Hotel with great service

The Phoenix Hotel is an oasis in the midst of what can be a very teeming and chaotic Yogyakarta. The rooms are lovely; the staff are very welcoming and helpful; and the buffet specials and daily breakfasts are superb. The pool area has extremely comfortable chairs and the nearby spa is convenient. The hotel is spectacular both inside and out with lovely colonial architecture. Recommend that you book a room overlooking the pool.
Restaurant Tip:
Via Via is an excellent restaurant in the Prawirotaman Area.

we have a wonderful stay at the phoenix hotel. we checked in the evening and had a nice drink at the reception.i think it is a special drink of jogya.stayed in one nice flat and visited tugu monumnet, malioboro street, saw bank indonesia, etc. took some very memorable snaps of us in the city and the hotel.

We spent one night of our honeymoon in this lovely hotel. Everything about it was great.
The rooms were clean, the restaurant was excellent and we had the best massages we´ve ever had (and we´ve had many!!!)
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!
