beautiful and elegant hotel

nothing bad at all to say about the rooms and the stay. staff were friendly and helpful. wifi in room is only for 2 users/2 devices. speed was good.you can have the hotel call you a cab if you leave early in the morning. cab was about only as compared to getting a car directly from them which is about 50-60k IDR.

the hotel provides a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of the main street outside. the location is central, 5 minutes away from malioboro shopping street by trishaw. the private tours are a bit pricey (eg for a four-hour trip to borobudur temple), but the personalised service is worth it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take the sunrise tour to Borobudur, where you leave the hotel at 3.30am and catch the first light at 4.30-5am at the temple. Worth the early rise.

Nice hotel, food overpriced

This is a nice hotel to stay at in Jogja. The rooms are very clean. However, ours was non-smoking but actually smelled of smoke. The staff is friendly. The food is pretty good, but not cheap.
Shopping Tip:
Don't buy water from the hotel. Go across the street and get it for 1/4 the price.

The Phoenix is one of the best deals to be had in Yogyakarta. Beautiful indo euro architecture, decorated with large vases, sculpture and a small but adequately sized pool which forms the focal point of one section of the hotel. Would stay here again for sure. Located on the n reaches of malioboro, it is located not too far away from the city's attractions.

it was good time when i stayed at the hotel, good service, warm & helpful staffs. Phoenix is another great hotel to stay.
but the room size is little bit small & there's no bath tub at the bath room.

close to the kraton & malioboro street, good location

I am not sure what is negative about this property. Given an option I might have thought of purchasing it. Its a beautiful property and excellent service. And they smile a lot. Would have been better if breakfast could have been added to the agoda package.

the hotel itself is just such a beautiful place. once inside you feel in another, very pleasurable world. walk to the yogdya's malioboro shopping street is about 10 minutes, and another 10 to the sultan's palace. service is excellent in the hotel, everywhere you go. breakfast is very impressive, and the food is abslutely delicious. massage was good in a very relaxing spa next to the pool. simply fantastic!
Restaurant Tip:
try to book the hotel with the breakfast included, as the breakfast itself is quite pricey. worth it, though. in the surrounding of the hotel there is no good alternative for breakfast, so it is highly recommended to have the breakfast at the hotel.

The hotell style was classic colonialism, but it has anything a stay would need. The facilities, the service, the room. Nice, clean and very kind people.
Shopping Tip:
Go to malioboro, especially the Mirota store, it's the whole Yogyakarta in one street/store.

good restaurant and beautifully restored colonial public spaces. some rooms with shower only.

50 minutes from Borobudur.
