Gorgeous setting, outstanding service
cleanlines and hospitality
9.3
We chose phoenix hotel on a recommendation from a friend. It was a great decision as, prior to departure from jogja, we looked at other hotels nearby and they didn't compare to the standard of the phoenix hotel. The friendly staff made every effort to assist us and were attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious. The maintenance of the grounds was excellent and everything looked fresh and tidy each day. We were on our honeymoon so it was a special time for us. The cost for the stay was very expensive in comparison to other venues, but well worth. We loved it.
Shopping Tip:
go to malioboro..the goods in there veery cheap..you can buy batik traditional clothes from indonesia only for IDR 20.000,-

Fantastic and will definitely come again
Beautiful, calm, relaxing, food, massage - all 5-stars!
10
i stayed here with my husband and we arrived early at 10am. the staff checked us in any way, plus upgraded us to a better larger deluxe room because our room was not ready for check in. great service. good rates to exchange usd at the front desk. breakfast, pool and massage were all excellent. the service was superb - multiple times a day they cleaned and spruced up our room. amenities were excellent. overall, i love this hotel and will come to yogyakarta again just to stay at this hotel. my husband concurs!
Restaurant Tip:
Across the street, there is a Peranakan restaurant which has very good food too (cheaper than the hotel!). Also, Malioboro Street is just around the corner, which is bustling with souvenirs and street life. Watch for pickpockets though!

Soft bed
Good location, great pool
5.7
We splashed out a little to stay here - a very grand hotel. And left with sore backs and not enough sleep after the worst bed of our stay. Maybe a small person on their own migh be comfortable in such a bed. Otherwise the staff were friendly (too friendly sometimes), and the breakfast fantastic (but for a significant extra charge).

Lovely colonial hotel and service with a smile
everything top: Rooms, Service, Staff
9.7
this hotel as well as some furniture have a long history. the newly renovated rooms, the interesting (sometimes old) interior as well as the very customer oriented staff spread a lot of charme. this hotel was just perfect for visiting the most important temples in the area around yogya. the pool area is very inviting to relax after the sight seeing. the balconies (especially the pool view) are great.
i can only recommend to stay there and also enjoy the breakfast. it was not included in our rate, but the price was ok and the choice unbelievebale. there are also 2 musicians and lots of local food with an original indonesian taste. the hotel is quite small, there is no stress at the huge buffet. staff is unbelievably friendly and customer oriented!
it belongs to the best hotels we have stayed in. fresh fruits and sweets are provided in the room every day. perfect 5* service - more than we have expected.
we arrived very early - the provided us the room right away. if you stay in yogya, this hotel is definitely an excellent choice and top experience!

Lovely hotel with pleasant rooms. Swimming pool rooms have lovely balconies perfect for a leisurely breakfast or lunch. Staff will happily organise any sightseeing trips you might be interested in.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go to the Affandi museum a short ride away for something a bit different.

Great Location but Small Rooms
Good Features of the hotel garden and delicious of tradional food
7.3
Good for Foreiner Tourist that could enjoy tradional food, beautiful garden like at home. But in term of room, its too small for us. We like larger room so we can take a rest most convinience.
