Quiet location, still close from Fukuoka (Hakate Eki) Distance to central Fukuoka, about 40 min walk. The hotel is great value for money. The room size is quite good. There is free internet available. The breakfast buffet is a bit limited in choice, and does not vary much day by day.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Starting at the hotel it is actually a nice walk to pass by the close temples (with the largest wooden buddha in Japan) and by connecting one by the other you can nicely walk to the shopping centre of Fukuoka. The park slightly west of the shopping centre is also a nice visit. On the return you can use public transport.

Excellent location with good value. It's Japan's culture--lots of smokers. The hotel lobby is allowed of smoking. This is the thing we dislike the most. It is an excellent location with a very good price. The subway station and bus terminal just within 5 minutes walk, very convenient. It is very easy to access to the major attractions. There are places around to eat. We had the pre-paid hotel buffet breakfast for few days. It was very Japanese style which didn't suit us well.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You can walk towards the bus terminal area and look for the 100 yen bus to go around the city. It's very convinient. Also, you can take the highway bus inside the bus terminal to go to other cities. It's cheaper than the train.

- very conveniently located, short walking distance from Shinkasen station and tourist sites, short taxi ride to Fukuoka airport.
- front desk staff can communicate in English
- complimentary buffet breakfast (Japanese and Western food)
- cheap rates for a hotel
- safe - room is small
- view from hotel room is not scenic In my room, there was a spray bottle of air freshener that was complimentary for use - listed usage includes freshening of room, curtains, clothes and shoes. I don't normally use air freshener but the green tea scent was irresistible. I used the air freshener for my clothes, shoes and the hotel wardrobe. It was a good alternative to my perfume.

Inexpensive, friendly, clean If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, inexpensive hotel, that is close to everything in Fukuoka, the Toyo Hotel near Hakata Station is a great choice. There is nothing fancy, and the rooms have no views, but who wants to go to Fukuoka to sit in a hotel room? It is perfect at the price and convenience, as a base of operations for your adventures in and around the city. How was the hotel restaurant? Who cares? I don't travel to eat at hotels. I travel to see and do things and to grab a bite wherever I am. I didn't eat at the hotel, but I do know that there are fantastic restaurants in the immediate vicinity including, a vegetarian restaurant, a fresh pasta and salad place, a great Indian restaurant where one sits in one's own jitney to eat.
The Toyo hotel will be my choice when I again get to Fukuoka.
Restaurant Tip : Pronto restaurants, one east of Hakata station, and one west are great for quick, fresh, healthy meals. The prices won't break the bank account either.

Good price
Good service No more American Breakfast The hotel is located in a good location in the central of the city, you can walk to Fukuoka station and shops around. The price is quite OK. The service sounds good especially for backpacker like me. Breakfast is mostly in Japanese style, expect some American breakfast next time. I think that this hotel will be the first choice for me in Fokuoka next time.
Shopping Tip : Near the shopping center, just only 5 min walk. Cool...

Hotel with excellent position on the Japan rail station in fukuoka. Great for those who, like me, he needs a comfortable and close to public transport. Peaceful. Staff friendly and always available. Breakfast and internationally. There have been only two nights but we back. As I always say ... Traveling the hotel just for sleeping. Hotel clean and nice reception area.
