Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Modern ryokan style inn, Japanese style breakfast
8
Booked 2 nights in this 12 room hotel/inn. It's approximately 7minutes walk from Gora and pretty easy and pleasant walk through residential and school areas. For the initial arrival, we took a cab costing JPY710 for what appeared like a 1.5minutes ride. Worth it as it helps you know the way to the hotel. Not much foreigners staying in the hotel while we were there for 2 nights in end Feb. Great way to enjoy the Japanese culture if you do not want to go to a true blue ryokan which will be very challenging for friends from the Europe or US. Outdoor bath is just a bathtub which is constantly in hot temperature. Didn't try the public bath which has real spring water(not the baths in the room). No wifi, but they provide a laptop with Internet connection at the lounge area. Most rooms look fine and private. We stayed at 101, a must pass-by room for all staying in 1st floor but being a ryokan, guests are very quiet in any case.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Good base to go round Hakone and Gotemba Premium Outlets)

A hotel with quiet environment
7.7
the hotel was good with quiet environment. however, there were 2 things that i thought they can improve. the 1st thing was to accept early check-in. it was hard to arrive the hotel at the time they allowed to chek in. the 2nd thing was to accept not only reservation for dinner, but also late dinner ordering. if they can modify in the future, that will be great. i would like to enjoy their hotel again.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel is kind of far away from the Gora station. It is about 15 mins by walk.

You can see a beautiful snow's view in winter. To sum up, it is a good place to take a rest , I will visit this hotel again in future.

Relaxing private hotspring bath
Private hot spring bath are excellent
5.3
We stayed in Gora Ichinoyu Hotel for 2 nights. The environment is excellent, we love the outdoor private hotspring bath. Not very sure about the public one as it smells and look a bit old to us.
Room is comfortable and nice space. Staff were a bit unfriendly especially when we can't speak Japanese, the night shift guy basically has no smile even we tried our hard to say "thank you" to him in Japanese after we asked for a pillowcase with all of our body language. They said fried eggs are available for breakfast but when we asked for it the other staff simply said "NO, just this". A bit unusual compare to other very friendly Japanese staff.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try the luggage delivery service in Hakone station, it's a great service, they will deliver the luggage right to your hotel so you can tour around before you go check in in the afternoon.
Same service offer when you check out.

Nice location
Lovely area, quiet, with spacious lobby and dining room.
7.3
Although uphill from Gora Station, I didn't find that a problem, especially because I appreciated the nice, quiet location. It allowed for easy walking to get a train the next morning as well to go to Open-Air Museum. Staff tried to be helpful in unblocking sink drain, but was unsuccessful; a problem that should have been addressed before arrival. Staff arranged for an in-room shiatsu session which was wonderful and reasonable and superior to one I had in a city. Although I've had Japanese breakfasts for weeks, for some reason, the one I had here didn't agree with me and I did not feel well all day. This reservation was all I could get at the last minute, so I wound up paying more than I expected to as a solo traveller. All that said, it's still a lovely place to experience traditional inn.

Lovely quiet place for rejuvenation
7
The personal Onsen is great!
and it's quite an experience to sleep on the mattress on the ground, which is the culture of Japanese and you'll only get it in a Ryokan (hence, it's really a Ryokan, not a hotel)
Well, though the food is exquisite and carefully prepared, some of the dish were not to our liking (its really a personal preference) However, in Hakone, there is very few places for dining, hence, do find out if the menu is to your liking first!
Also, the location can be a little far if you carry lots of luggage as there is a very steep slope to the hotel from the train station. Take a taxi!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Hakone is pretty easy to travel as the modes of transport ( cable car, rail, boat, rope way ).
Do get a day pass to enjoy unlimited rides in Hakone.
Some people only make a day trip to Hakone. Why only a day trip? Book a hotel in Hakone and enjoy a quiet peaceful night in the Onsen before you leave the next day!

Really nice stay at a traditional japanese hotel
Great public and private onsen
8.3
This is a traditional japanese hotel with amazing view of Hakone and surroundings! do your self a favour and have a public onsen as the hot springs feed a new leaf of life into your system! dont worry about letting it all hang out, everyone is a little nervous to start! but once i start getting my gear off in the public onsens, i found it a great way to socialize and relax in a confortable enviroment!
Hotel Feature Tip:
Go and have a pulbic Onsen!
