i am impressed!
in front of the bus stand
8.7
it is a famous hotel with an excellent view of fuji mountain. It has a great onsen and it is free to use 24hr. No wifi in the room but only at the lobby. the room is spacious and the bathroom is big. No restaurant near the hotel except the hotel restaurant. They have excellent staff that is very helpful and good in english language. Great for relax and enjoying the scenery.

Huge Rooms, Great Service, Perfect Location!
Easy to find (has its own bus stop), conveniently located, spacious rooms, polite staff, free onsen
9.3
This hotel is located right in front of its own bus stop in a slightly isolated part of the mountain. You can see the beautiful mountain view from your room (maybe even including Fuji-san). Although its isolated, it's also conviently located on a bus route that goes from Togendai (to see Lake Ashinoko or go on the ropeway to Owakudani) to Odawara Station (you can stop by the Little Prince Museum or Venetian Glass Museum on the way). The rooms are gigantic with a TV, private restrooms, and even a couch/sitting area. There is a free onsen open 24/7. The hotel staff are always around and can speak English -- more importantly, they are very helpful and polite. Cannot recommend this hotel more for your stay in Hakone! A great deal!! I would suggest eating away from the hotel though. Just take the bus to an area where you see some restaurants, then eat and take the bus back.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Definitely get the Hakone Free Pass so all your bus rides are free!

Close to the curise and cable cars.
"Onsen was awesome", says the wife.
7.7
We stayed one night, bought our own sake + snacks, arrived early Jan 2013. Got the Hakone 2 day pass, because the trip from the train station was approx. 1,200 yen. The 2 day pass is only 3,200 yen. The staff there speak English. The Italian restaurant in the hotel will cost approx. 7,000 yen for our (2 people) meal with drinks. All the buses to the hotel finish approx. 9pm. So if you don't want to pay so much for a meal, my advise is find another hotel or bring instant noodles.

Big rooms, nice onsen, but expensive food
Comfortable rooms, nice onsen, quiet
7
I stayed at this hotel with my friend for two nights. The rooms were big, warm and quite comfortable. The hotel is a bit far from Hakone-Yumoto station, but very close to Togendai and the Hakone Ropeway (which is a must see!)
It snowed heavily the day we arrived, so we were forced to eat the hotel food, which was a little too pricey for what it was. The hotel may be a bit old (and the corridors a little dark) but it didn't bother us too much. The onsen was great, especially the outdoor one which was awesome with the snow! For some reason the hotel was extremely quiet while we were there, so I had the onsen to myself most of the time.
If you're lucky you can see (the top of) Mount Fuji from the hotel. We were lucky on our second day!
Travel tip:
Eat out if you can, just check when the last bus is to the hotel (I think it's around 9pm).
The Little Prince Museum and Glass Museum is very close by too.
Get the Hakone Freepass - it will save you a lot of money if you plan on travelling around Hakone and you get use it on nearly all the buses and trains (and the ropeway and ships).

Lovely hotel with great public in/outdoor baths
Big, clean, relaxing twin room in gorgeous hakone setting
10
Thoroughly enjoyed our short relaxing stay in hakone palace hotel, with it's gorgeous setting in hakone and the awesome public baths. Easy access from station, as it is a direct 30-40 bus ride to the door step of the hotel. Room was big by most standards and beds were very comfortable.
Will definitely return to this hotel in hakone, as it beats some of the past hotels that we stayed in main town yumoto hakone. At this price bracket, the location is a very small compromise for the standards of room and service at palace hakone hotel.

Felt so happy arriving at this hotel to find a big spacious room. While the staff were not overly friendly, they were courteous.
Quite a good location as its only about 5 mins away on bus from Lake Ashi and the Ropeway Station.

Although, it was far from town but it was nice hotel, clean and peaceful. It's far away from hectic life. Nearby the bus stop. Make sure you bring food coz it is pricey. The best part you can view mount fuji from ur room and free onsen 24 hour.
