Good traditional hotel with reasonable price

Interesting Experience
Good location. Nice room.

Hadn't done Ryokan before so this was a first.
Great place to try. I suggest booking the Family bath at check-in if you want privacy.
Restaurant Tip:
Not many places to buy food in the area so eat before arrival or book dinner.
Hotel breakfast is Japanese so if you're not used to it it may be a bit strange.

This hotel is considered value for money, with a nice river view from guest room. However, it can be improved to make it more pleasant ie. toilet as we need to share toilet, breakfast in terms of food quality, and private bath.

Nice Ryokan

not a bad ryokan.
onsen is nice; you can get a private room for half an hour if you pre book.
breakfast is ok; traditional but in a restaurant style room w proper tables w other guests - not hugely authentic.
the rooms are authentic styled - so no bathroom.
bathroom and toilet facilities are shared..
so if you dont like leaving your room to go to the toilet this isn't for you.
the bath is shared; hot spring onsen.
the rooms are quaint and nice.
this ryokan is about a 15minute walk to the main station down a hill.
there is nothing really around unless you go into town.

Typical japanese ryokan needs badly a refurbishing

This ryokan hotel is located in a small village with no restaurants in the close neighbourhood. Though it seems quite authentic, there are some filthy rugs and details all over the ryokan.
The onsen bad are good but they lack important details such as a simple shower.
We encountered a bad tempered old man when we were checking-in but later other staff was extemely polite and couteous as it is usual in Japan.
Taken this into consideration, we felt that the ryokan was overpriced and we will not go there again.

we stay in a traditional roykan with excellent view especially the autumn leaves with the running stream outside the room is already value for money. breakfast was good although reception can only converse minimal english. private bath is a great option but the timing of 30mins is too short to enjoy the bath. on the whole, this is good for family with children although to access to the roykan via train, you need to walk some steep slope which may be slippery during winter.

Very friendly traditional hotel, good location as closed by the railway station although still need to take the bus for a 3 min ride. Clean, no fancy or luxary stuff but that what you want in that environment. The whole area is beautiful in autumn time, nice hot spring, red leaves, misty mountain, many things to see and beleive that will be other beautiful sence in the summer
Travel tip:
If you don't eat in the hotel, be aware most of resturant near by closed early, or you can take one train stop to next big station
