A good tourist hotel with moderate rates is in the center of town near most everything the tourist wants to see. The modern rooms are light and, for Japan, spacious, with the upper floor rooms providing delightful views. Good shopping and many inexpensive restaurants serving good food surround the area. The Peace Memorial Park is nearby and you have easy access to Itsukushima Shrine, Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum, Hiroshima Card Castle, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and the Fudoin Temple. The hotel has a Japanese restaurant, a café, and a very nice French restaurant. Sightseeing can be organized at the tour desk. This is a good base for touring a fascinating and important city. Too expensive compared to similar hotels in the same area
As we couldn't find any other available hotel, we had to stay in Mitsui Garden Hiroshima for one night. I admit it was the largest room we stayed compared to all other hotels we stayed in Japan. The room was comfortable and very nice, but the price difference is the main factor. For budget travellers like us, it may not be a good choice. The location is ok, but nothing special. You still need to travel by streetcar to reach JR train station. Peace Memorial Park and shopping area is walking distance. You can find some convenience stores nearby. The staff is ok. If you want a large room and ready to pay the price, it can be a choice.
