The hotel is a stone's throw from the Hakodate Train Station! So convenient. Rooms were neat & clean. The best feature for me was the back door of the hotel leading to the Morning Market (seafood vendors galore!)

When I last visited (about 2 yrs. ago) the breakfast buffet was offered on the top of the hotel, giving us a wonderful view of the surrounding town. However, the buffet selection was as good, or better than previously experienced.

My main interest was to experience the Asa Ichi (the morning seafood market) again. I was not disappointed. The back door of the hotel made getting to the market much easier for the guests. It was an adventure just walking around the area of the hotel: to experience the seafood vendors, many other vendors of fresh fruits,vegetables,and dried seafood products. There were many seafood restaurants nearby to choose from!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A must to experience is the Morning Market where the vendors "bark" their wares. There are so many varieties of seafood to encounter.

Close to the train station, the Nijo Fish Market, and town center.

The room is not spacious. Facilities are basic. Cleanliness is pretty average by the usual Japanese high standard.

The Hakodate Harborview Hotel is a typical business hotel for the 'salary man'. The room is not spacious. Facilities are basic, but at the same time charges are reasonable. The staff is professional if not overly friendly. If you're looking for a no-frill kind of stay, this is your place.
