Large spacious rooms, all the toiletries anyone could think of provided free, prime location opposite Nijo castle, free shuttle service to and from the station, staff speak good english

Decor in rooms a little bit dated but otherwise very clean, no real issues. Food very expensive in the hotel - best to eat elsewhere.

Enjoyed my stay here in this hotel very much, a little bit out of the centre of Kyoto, but the free shuttle bus to the station is very convenient, plus there's a subway station just a couple of minutes walk away. Rooms spacious and clean. Impressed by the amount of toiletries provided. Staff very friendly and speak good English.

Good location next to Nijo castle, but away from centre of town. It is not a big town though so all good. Shuttle bus is a bonus and the lobby very grand. Free internet as well

Rooms were a bit dated, but were nice a big.

Booked this hotel because of the value for money and it delivered. Not the most amazing hotel, but did the job. It was clean, big rooms, good location. The lobby was impressive and staff very attentive. I would certainly go here again, for an affordable stay.

Nightlife Tip : The road near the river had some great little bars and restaurants down it.

The reception staffs wear Kimono. That makes me feel I am really in the heart of Japan.

I had to wait for a couple of minutes in a queue before I could get breakfast. It seemed there is not enough number of seats.

The reception staffs wear Kimono. That makes me feel I am really in the heart of Japan. On the other hand, the downside was that I had to wait for a couple of minutes in a queue before I could get breakfast. It seemed there is not enough number of seats.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel is in front of Nijojo. It was quite convenient in terms of making a quick visit to that castle.

Good value. Would recommend this hotel to most travelers comfortable with the price range, except those who wish to be steeped in luxury.

Restaurant Tip : Small set breakfast at the Cafe Hello-Good bye about one block away [turn right out of the main entrance]. Large toast, scrambled eggs, salad and coffee. Half or less of the hotel breakfast, albeit not the selection. Also, about two blocks down the first narrow street to the right out of the front is a small "mini-mart" open late with a good selection of wine and sake, cookies and the usual sundries. Excellent for a "take back to the room and crash" evening.
