The location close to the train station
The rooms were clean but extremely small.
I rented at this hotel because of it's close proximity to the train station and that proved to be a good choice as we took many day trips and it was an easy walk to the station. The local transportation was long by bus to the attractions in Kyoto. While the hotel was very clean the rooms were the smallest in any hotel we stayed at in Japan. The wireless internet in the room was excellent.
Restaurant Tip : There was an excellent Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel.

Clean. Good communial bath. Staff are pleasant and helpfull.
Noisy toward street if you open the window. Rooms are extremely small and have no cupbords for storing clothes.
The Apa Horikawadori Hotel is an excellent possition for the traveller who plans on doing more than Kyoto on the Japan stay, close to the station, underground and busterminal as it is. The breakfast provided, although rather expensive, is an excellent start of the day.

This is a hotel very close to the Kyoto station. It is clean, cheap and internet access is included in the prize. There is a restaurant in the hotel and the breakfast is good (japanese and western style). I haven't tried other food. There is a public bath which I have not used but I heard it is nice. My single room was somewhat small, but if you look for a cheap hotel to sleep this is a great place.
