comfort, room size

distance from the center

The hotel rooms are very spacious for Kyoto and Japanese standards. Bath room is excellent. Service is OK. The distance from the center is a drawback - though situated at the end of the K-line of Kyoto subway.

spacious rooms. nice environment. staff can communicate in English. very convenient location.

breakfast is so so. carpet is kind of old

I had read that hotel rooms in Japan is really small but this hotel has very spacious rooms, comparable to those in U.S. Although it is located in the far northeast of the city, the transportation is very convenient. It is right besides the subway. Of course, you don't have much restaraunt choices around the hotel as in the city center area.

Location is the best. It is a Limousine Bus drop-off point and also across the street from the Shinagawa Station where you catch a subway line and the Shinkansen.

No ironing board when requested. Wish there was a passenger walkway overpass so we can easily wheel our luggage to catch the Shinkansen.

It was a very convenient hotel as far as its proximity to the big Shinagawa Station. It is like a village with gift shops, restaurants, internet cafes, convenience stores. I usually prefer smaller, more intimate hotels while traveling, but for this quick trip to Tokyo with a Shinkansen connection to Kyoto at the end of our stay it was great. A good business person's hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't miss a trip to Asakusa and ride a rickshaw.

location

No

It's surrounded by trees and gives you a very nature feeling, and it's convenient too, 5 mins walking distance to a nearby underground train station. I had a double room which is big and nicely set. You can hire a bicycle, 2,000 Yen/day. Kyoto is suitable for cycling.

clean, nice rooms

far away from city center and train station, expensive restaurants, so so service;

Clean, modern hotel with nice bathrooms. The feel is of a quality hotel that is far away from the town center. It is a popular place for weddings in the center garden. Not much to see or do at hotel or in the neighborhood so we spent time away from the hotel all day and did not return until the evenings. It was far enough away that we did not want to take the metro back to the hotel once we left in the morning. Nice little shop in the hotel. If you turn down room service they give you a coupon to spend at the shop or at the restaurants.

Clean, attractive, across the street from the metro station

far away from tourist attractions and train station; lots of red tape checking in and checking out; hotel food just so-so but expensive.

I was looking forward to staying here after our lovely visit to the Grand Prince Hotel in Tokyo. Big disappointment. On check in we had to show the passport for each person in our room including children and write in each number as well as wait for the staff to do photocopies. We were not allowed to take our roll on luggage (one per person) up to the room. Instead we had to pile our luggage onto a cart and wait 20 to 30 minutes, standing in the lobby, for the porters to roll the luggage up to our room. We were not allowed to go up to our room until the porters were ready to take the luggage. Then on check out, they wanted me find our copy of the Agoda reservation sheet. (On check in, they had our name and did not ask to see our reservation confirmation sheet, so I had stored it away and had pulled out our train tickets and next hotel reservation sheet). The hotel is really set up for locals - we were one of the few foreigners and I felt the staff was uncomfortable in dealing with us. It turned out there were many attractive hotels close to the train station and the more interesting sections of town - a fact I wish I would have known before we booked this hotel. Our room was comfortable and did sport a small refrigerator. The bathroom was modern and clean. Our view was unattractive - just the roof of the entrance.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We loved the cultural series on classic Japanese dance, song, theater at the cultural center. Get there early as they sell out quickly! Also loved the tea ceremony. It is worth buying tickets for one! The Kyoto Handicraft Center has good prices on yukatas. You get one free if you buy 3. Also on the top floor my daughter made beautiful jewelry (cloisanne and demascene) while her brother used the internet on the other side of the small store/cafe. Went to see the comorant fishing birds - awesome. Also made roketsuzome prints (dyed fabric) at a wonderful little shop(www.roketsu.com). Hard to find - we called at the park and they came to get us! Kyoto has lots to see and do!

Very spacious rooms Courteous staff, very helpful

Bar smells of smoke as soon as you enter - needs better ventilation. Tucked away and hard to find, therefore, usually empty. Restaurants closes at 9:00 pm, Do not seat guests as of 8:30 pm !!! Very strange!! Internet connection very slow.

Hotel location is very pleasant and has a resort feel with lots of trees, green patios and coy ponds. Extremely hospitable staff and follows the rules to the "T", hence may appear to be inflexible at times. Restaurants need to stay open at least until 10:00 pm, international guests tend to eat late and by 8:30 pm, there is NO where to have dinner in the hotel. One has no choice but to go out. Gold Room (ballroom on lower level) is very pleasant for meeting of 200 people - high ceiling and good ventilation. Spa on 2nd floor although small, massage therapist offers good, professional service, helps to take the jet-lag away.

Restaurant Tip : MUHOMATSU (WAKURA) - a family style sushi restaurant 5 min cab ride from hotel. Good food, great service. Has private 3 small rooms but need to sit on the floor. Reasonable price! Great value! Another great Teppanyaki restaurant in the GION district: MIKAKU RESTAURANT Chef Kenji and wife Mieko are very hospitable and the steaks are excellent no matter which cut you select! Mid to high price range depending on the size of cut but well worth it! Don't forget the Garlic fried rice. YUM!!!

Clean Spacious room Friendly reception

remote locations not very close to kyoto's temples

The hotel is located on the edge of Kyoto, across the street from the convention center and next to a large park. The setting is quite lovely though not close to Kyoto's temples or other cultural sites. The room is clean, spacious, and comfortable. Staff is friendly. Overall we have a good experience staying in this hotel.

Magnificent-looking hotel.

Travel tip : You check in at the Kyoto train staion at a special hotel welcome desk and your luggage goes direct to the hotel while you catch the subway or go sightseeing in Kyoto before heading to the hotel - this was a great service both on arrival and departure.
