Traditional tatami room. Attentive reception staff, with good english. Great location.

Hallway carpets a little faded.

Very nice traditional tatami room. En-suite bathhroom was nice. Clean. Futon bed was set up for me while I was out for the evening. Attentive reception staff, with good english. Great location about 20 minutes walk from Kyoto station or just 3 minutes from the subway stop. It is on a quiet street with a convenience store almost next door. The street though quiet, has some cool looking restaurants and shops and leads almost to Pontocho Alley then you cross the river into the Gion District, all easily walkable. Breakfast is traditional Japanese style.

Shopping Tip : The convenience store next door is great to grab a cheap beer.

Furnishings are a little old.

Easy to find. Interesting walk from Kyoto station along main street and interesting walk along side streets returning to station. Staff spoken excellent English, were courteous and quiet. The room was surprising for the amount of space available and so quiet at all times. Sleeping is perfect. Access to transportation and interesting destinations were excellent. The traditional breakfast was very generous and of excellent quality. I would be happy to stay there again and again when I return to Kyoto and will recommend it to all my friends. I liked it so much I took many photographs of the interior of my room.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Ryoan-ji.

big room with nice toilet and bath

lobby area is quite dark and full of cigarett smell, no onsen

Hirashin is a nice ryokan which located in the middle of kyoto. Very easy to go to tourist spots, temple and many bus pass this area. Only 10 mins walk from the train station and bus stop with department store, covenient store and public trasportation ticket box. The room itself is great, bigger than what i imagine, clean bed sheet, toilet and bath but overall atmostphere of hotel is quite dark.

Restaurant Tip : Nice udon restaurant near the hotel.
