Very outdated on room interior and bath.
Very nice location, nice friendly helpfull staff. But decoration and bath standards are very outdated consider we live in 2000 year and not 80` year. So you pay more for located place hotel rather than comfortable looking hotel room.
The nice thing are airconditioner working effectiv with the air "freshner/cleaner" operated device. Overall, the room okay cleaned everyday.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Fish market is hot spot to explore along with the shopping "out-space-long-road-mall" which probably take 1-2 days.
There a lotsa lots temple scattered around Kyoto if you consider visiting them, plan first which one in order to see them all, as this might be time-consuming if not planned.

Good size room, queen size bed, very helpful staff, central city location, close to subway station.
The hotel's Japanese restaurant didn't have a comprehensive menu in English. Because we weren't able to speak Japanese comfortably, we weren't able to order the specials. However, food was very delicious and service was good.
Hotel Gimmond was a very comfortable business hotel. All front desk staff were able to speak English very well and they were very helpful. They went out of their way to help us book tours and look up websites for attractions we wanted to visit. There is a subway station that is located close to the hotel, so it's very easy to go to Kyoto Central station, rather than catching a bus or walking. It's on a quiet street with mainly businesses on the street but is close enough to the main shopping streets. Really loved staying here.

City Center, conveniently access to subway (2 main lines) and buses, Room is nice and clean (a bit small).
Room a bit small, my room is facing another building so it block the view and light.
If you looking for accommodation in Kyoto City center, this hotel could be one of your choice, with a short walk from Hotel you can access to 2 main line of subway which can take you to Kyoto Station or another line will take you to west or east side of city where a lot of tourist attraction sites are located.
The hotel staffs are helpful (however, not all of the staff), but in general they are great.
Would like to recommend for traveller who like to stay in the city and take a train or bus to visit pleases around Kyoto

location to kyoto subway - straight line from exit, size of room
availability of breakfast
This was my return visit to kyoto - and i wish i had stayed here in the 1st place. hotel is placed in centre of city, easily accessible to both subway and imperial palace, room was superb (I was upgraded to double room - bigger than my bedroom at home), and staff were very helpful with my checkout (down to holding luggage and assisting with directions to next location). definitely a place to look for on future visits to kyoto.

price, location (excellent), service in English and Japanese, clean, typical amenities
none in particular (but Japanese size so be warned big people)
Good place to stay for transportation to all areas. Walking distance to the Kamo River.
Travel tip : Train fares in Kyoto are high. Walk or take the bus if possible. Very pleasant town to walk around in.

Japanese Traditional Breakfast- excellent
Reasonable rates
Friendly service
too many smoking floors
no iron in rooms
The hotel room was clean but fairly small. I found myself banging my elbows in the front hall. The traditional Japanese restaurant was excellent, particularly for breakfast and the restaurant service was outstanding. The hotel is conveniently located on two major subway routes providing excellent accessibility to all major sites in the Kyoto area. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay.
Travel tip : quick walk to subway, downtown, and Gion district

Not much to complain about
The hotel is fairly easy to get to from the Kyoto Shinkansen Station...take a taxi (maybe 800 yen or so) or the subway which takes you within a few hundred meters of the hotel.
Gimmond is a standard Japanese business class hotel. It is also centrally located to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation.

Close to Gion and relatively good location.
Bathroom too small. Bit far from JR station. Had to catch another train to get to hotel.
As a triple share room, we found the rooms to be ok in size for the price. However, the bathrooms were way too small even for 2 people. We found the service to be friendly and were able to walk to the main shopping street and the Gion district. Would have been more convenient being closer to JR station, but paid 230Yen and caught local train to nearest station and walked the 5mins or so to hotel.

-really good location, near both subway lines
-good japanese breakfast
-nice staff
-big, clean rooms
-quiet
-the internet connection at the lobby could be free, since there are free LAN in all the rooms.
The Kyoto Gimmond hotel was really value for the money, and the location just great. Really easy access to central Kyoto sights and public transport. Restaurant was also good value for the money. We liked also the possibility to by public transport tickets from the reception, and relatively cheap internet connection. Beer/soft drink automat was also nice.

Courteous staff, great location, clean.
I enjoyed the Hotel Gimmond Kyoto. While it's not right next door to any of the most famous Kyoto sites, it is next door to the intersection of the only two subway lines in Kyoto, which makes it super convenient. The hotel staff was gracious and could provide comprehensive directions in English. The only thing I would stay away from are the two restaurants associated with the hotel, which are mediocre at best. Try the yakatori place across the street.
Restaurant Tip : Go to the yakatori place across the avenue or the vietnamese place a few blocks north. Skip the hotel restaurants.

The hotel was very centrally located in the middle of kyoto where you can walk to a lot of the sites or hop on a bus. Its not as close to kyoto station but its only 2 stops away on the subway or about $20 via cab. The hotel room was small but cozy and clean. It was a good deal for the price. (note that I didn't go during peak season), the staff in the lobby were helpful and speaks english.
Restaurant Tip : don't need to eat within the hotel, there are tons of places to eat around the area

Clean room, not far from subway station, friendly staff and very fast internet which was good for research as the first night in Japan.
I hate smokers!! Place had horrible smell. Rooms were quite small compared to others in kyoto, could hardly fit in the bathroom.
Not bad for the price, and wasn't hard to find, but we were given a smoker room and the whole floor stank. I wouldn't say the bed was very soft...
Hotel Feature Tip : Make it very clear well before your arrival if you prefer a non smoking room or you will be very disappointed when your told you can't move.

A nice, clean hotel well located close to Emperial palace and pedestrian shopping areas. Easy access with subway from the Kyoto main railway station.
Rooms (double) are quite small, we had problems to accommondate with parents and two teenage children.
English speaking, nice personnel. There is japanize and italian breakfast available at the hotel. All rooms have air conditioning and fridgerator (no minibar).
An overall worth of reasonable prized rooms.

Love the hotel, very clean, close to many things to see and do, trains very close and the price was great.
better instructions of how to get there from the trains.
Love the hotel, very clean and great location. close to restaurants, clubs and shopping centers. excellent value and location. trains are very near by. the room are a bit small for US standards but excellent for Asia, with refrigerator and TV, very clean and very well taking care. the beds are very comfortable. Just look in Google maps for exact location before you go there, because it can be a bit confusing.
Restaurant Tip : Great place to have breakfast couple of blocks with lots of excellent options. close walking to clubs and restaurants to eat at night or just walk around

Not far from railway station
Restaurant clouses too early, at 22 o'clock
Good location, easy to find, not far from city center and from railway station, there are two beautiful and interesting big temples near the hotel - Nishi Honganji and Higashi Hongandji. Restaurant was closed at 22 o'clock. Seems to be inconvenient... Rooms are clean and quiete. Will recomend it to my friend for reservation.
Restaurant Tip : No late dinner in the hotel's restaurant. It is closed at 10 p.m.
