It was the first time I used the service of Agoda to book a hotel room. It is very user friendly and gives quick and useful information for me to find the right hotel. Though the hotel I visited is a bit small and does not have many facilities, it is quite near the subway and is very convenient for me to visit any place in Kyoto. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

More facilities such as free and easy access to internet is very important for tourists today.

Though the hotel is small it provides all the basic facilities. The room is very clean and the staff is very polite and friendly and give help whenever necessary .The hotel locates at a very quiet area that makes you feel very comfortable and have a leisure feeling for taking holiday there. It just takes 3 minutes walking to the subway that is very convenient for you to visit any sight seeing places in Kyoto. But the access to internet is not so convenient in the hotel. Such internet service is very important for tourist today.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Many beautiful maple leaves in many places in Kyoto.

In the city of Kyoto, all intersting tourist spots are not far and easy to reach. Even by walking.

Small rooms, parking not in the hotel, but could be arranged by hotel staff

Nice hotel down town Kyoto. Good starting point for touristing through Kyoto. The staff is friendly and the english skills are ok, which is not given in all hotels in Japan. The breakfast was good, maybe not so rich when you like the japanese stil of breakfast, but as I prever the european breakfast it was good for me. As usual, the rooms are very small, but for a short stay they are sufficient. That they are clean, I do not have to mention! This is Japan :-) For me it is a recommendation for a short term stay in Kyoto

Excellent hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Close to subway station for 2 lines

Room small, even by Japanese standards

This is an excellent little hotel with friendly helpful staff, located near subway (important in Kyoto unless you want to spend on taxis). My room was very small (bathroom miniscult) but well appointed.

The boys and girls working at the reception desk were very helpful. The hotel has a wonderful location in downtown Kyoto.

I liked everything at the hotel.

Good service, very helpful of staff.

The photo of standard room in hotel's website is much nicer than the real room when I got there. Very disappointed. The room that I got has old decoration.

Travel tip : I am not satisfied with the room because I stayed in the room that total different from what is in the Hotel's website. I selected this hotel because of the photos of room in hotel website. But overall, I am satisfied with the staff, they are nice and have a service - mind.

comfortable, clean, air freshener in room

older hotel - peeling walls

Enjoyed our stay. clean room. just slightly older walls/peeling wallpaper. great having an airfreshener machine in the room. drying line available in the bathroom. No safe available in the room, however. Average to small sized room. Convenient central area. about 3 subway stops from central JR Kyoto station. On a large main street, close to Nijo Castle. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful in terms of tourist information. Internet for a price in the lobby.

This hotel has a friendly english speaking staff, was convenient to get to in central kyoto and had a little extra room space.

Breakfast was expensive.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Covered shopping area with shrines in-between the stores.

Hotel Gimmond is the best place to see Jidai Matsuru Festival on October 22nd.

no

We have a chance to see festival infront of the hotel. Shopping area is very near, we found a lot of suvinier, food, large supermarket, 100 shop and young japanese fashion. We're sure to go back Gimmond Hotel.

When we had a problem with the beds they switched our room at no charge and gave us the upper floor in a quiet corner. Friendly and helpful service and very clean room. Small but comfortable.

Many smoking Europeans in the lobby so it smelled. Somewhat outdated but clean and tidy.

This hotel was very conveniently located in the middle of Kyoto- the only draw back being it was a $12.00 cab ride from the train station. For other transportation it was very good and within a couple blocks from the bus as well as the subway. The lobby was unpleasant unless you were a smoker because it smelled of heavy smoke fumes but our non smoking room was fine. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and when we needed 2 single beds instead of a double they gave us a upgraded room on the top floor and there no extra charge. The beds were decent in Japanese standards- hard but tolerable. The bathroom was very clean and lots of hot water. Plus all the toiletry goodies that come as extras were there. I would recommend this to travelers on a budget that want a decent and inexpensive hotel in Kyoto.

Shopping Tip : Small quaint streets immediately behind the hotel and slightly further a huge covered mall with fun shops and restaurants.

modern hotel. is near metro station and some beautiful place

there isn't think that disliked

the location of the hotel is good, near a metro station, a bus central station , and near to some of beautiful place like the imperial palace, the manga museum and two big temples. in this area there are also the biggest mall and the shopping walks. all the employe at the hotel are very kind and they had help us with the rooms. on internet we couldn't reserved 1 triple and 1 single rooms (only to douple rooms) but when we arrived at the hotel they have changed the reservation without ask to us addictional fee.

Location - halfway between Nijo Castle on the one hand and the shopping district on the other. Great Japanese restaurant downstairs. Staff helpful with adequate english.

As with all Japanese hotels ... roomsize ! Two people and their luggage and there is no room move. A bit hard to find on foot from the station, the directions (just around the corner from the museum) weren't helpful.

Once we found the hotel all was good. Friendly efficient staff at the front desk, clean and tidy rooms (albeit on the tiny side) and a handy location made it an easy stay. It's a short walk from the hotel to the shopping district and the main bus stops (a must to get around as the subway didn't seem to go anywhere near the places we wanted to visit). I do recommend the inhouse Japanese restaurant in the basement, it was the best meal we had in Japan (real Japanese - not just sushi).

Restaurant Tip : The hidden restaurant in the basement is excellent. High quality service, tasty and unusual food (try the soyabean paste steamed pork), or the duck ... and no too pricey (except maybe the sake).

Great location, good restaurants, capable friendly staff

Small, cheap bathrooms

Finding the Gimond hotel was quite easy as it is convenintly located on Oike-dori, one of Kyoto's main through streets. The staff was capable and friendly, but the hotel does not have on site parking which could be quite expensive if you leave your car during day time hours. The rooms were clean and comfotable but the bathrooms where small and cheap, like a plastic box. The on site restaurants were reasonably priced with good food and the Gion distrct is within walking distance.

Shopping Tip : Gion distrct is within walking distance and has many great shops and restaurants.

The staff at this hotel is extraordinarily concerned with the satisfaction of its guests. Frankly, a Westerner like me is not accustomed to such excellent service.

Like we found everywhere on our trip, the rooms are smaller than we are accustomed to in the West.

An excellent accommodation. After some confusion over an appointment for a guided tour, the staff at the hotel arranged for a taxi to take us sightseeing at hotel expense, they provided us a taxi at no charge the next morning to take us to the train station and even made a small gift to us of beautiful Japanese fans. The staff was unbelievably attentive and concerned with our well being.
