Wonderful staff, great food, comfortable room
Staff, location, food
The Hotel Granvia Kyoto was very convenient in Kyoto station, the concierges were outstanding in helping us get around, making suggestions for activities, and making restaurant reservations! The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly, warm and helpful. The buffet breakfast was our best in Japan. Will definitely stay again when in Kyoto.

NIce centrally located hotel, but very strong smel
Central location, access to train and subway, access to restaurants
Stay at the hotel was great. Staff were very attentive andhelpful in problem-solving. Only negative is the very strong smell of cigarette smoke in the rooms.

Centralized location as a base
Convenient, nice, comfortable
We wanted to stay somewhere close to the train station as we were visiting other places like Osaka and hiroshima, so what's better than a nice hotel right in the middle of the train station. U would have to take a bus or a cab to the happening 'gion' area, but it doesn't cost that much. Overall, I think it is very centralized and would recommend to those who would like to stay at kyoto but would like to visit other closely cities.

Very good
Large-Room. Comfort-bed. Clean.
Very good, but unfortunetly there was bad WiFi connection, so we can not use our I Pad/cellphone for communication.

good location, friendly staff
good location, friendly staff, big room
I enjoyed my stay in Hotel Granvia. The hotel staff reflect very well the Japanese value of politeness. The room is clean and big. Room service was superb. Lack of variety in the restaurants. Superb locations with easy access to any areas of Kyoto and even Japan with trains, taxi and buses. I will come back and introduce the hotel to my friends.

extrmely convinent, quiet comfortable
location, location, location
The English speaking staff were extremely friendly and helpful, most likely because they were comfortable with speaking the language. A young lady at the concierge went out of her way to walk us down to the subway(in her kimono), to show us how to purchase tickets. Her name is Yuko, look for her if you have English issues, supper sweet and the perfect hostess. Only real issue I had, was there's a charge to use the swimming pool and my 15 year old was unable to use it because she's under 20yrs old; first 5 star hotel I have ever encounter this.

Modern hotel in convenient location
Hotel in Train Station of Kyoto,Great Location,Nice Bathroom
I know this hotel is very popular but to wait until 3PM to check in is pretty late for our family traveling with mom(65years old). It was around noon and we flew in to Osaka airport then took 1hour bus to get here. We felt unwelcome from the front desk lady to ask us to check back aournd 3PM without trying/negotiating to find one of our rooms. After hung around the hotel lobby till 3PM, she give us smoking smell rooms?!? I was VERY disappointed, I am requested online from Agoda booking page and special requested again for NON-smoking rooms from her but what we got still rooms with totally cigarette smoke smell. When I called the front desk, I got question from the line "Do you smell the cigarette odor? ". Simply replied "YES!" It took another change to the better rooms. Finally we got COMPLETELY non-smoking rooms after then we were happy and had nice stay here.
