The view over Lake Biwako is magnificent.

The isolation from regular transport is a problem.

This hotel performs very well as an international standard hotel.Each room has wonderful views over Lake Biwako and each is well appointed. Staff are very courteous and helpful despite minimal English. There is a choice of restaurants including French, Japanese, Steakhouse, buffet.The location of the hotel means that transport to and from can be a problem. The hotel's courtesy bus is infrequent and stops too early at night. The alternative is a 1000 yen taxi fare or a very long walk from Otsu station!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There are daily cruises on Lake Biwako which can be organised through the hotel desk

Loved waking up to the view of the lake. Big spacious rooms. Enjoyed the traditional Japanese bathroom with soaker tub (furo). Friendly staff.

We were traveling with 3 teenagers and we wished there was something for them to do in the evenings. There is no gym, no pool (winter time) and no game/entertainment room and no movies to rent.

Overall our stay was great. I would not recommend it if you are traveling with teenagers. There is nothing to do in or around the hotel. I would have preferred to stay with them in Kyoto. It would be great for a couples getaway or for a family with younger children. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, helpful and everyone spoke english. We had the breakfast buffet on the 37th floor, awesome view. Good selection of pastries, fruits, salads and Japanese items.

Hotel Feature Tip : If you stay more than 1 night the hotel offers a Y1000 coupon (twin room) if you choose not to have your towels changed. The coupon can be used at the convenience store or restaurants. It is nice to know there are hotels that are environmentally conscience.

Excellent location. \nEasy access to train station which is barely 7-10 min from downtown Kyoto. \nLarge rooms with quality furnishings.

No Wi-fi\nInternet access not operational.\nBus shuttle service starts too late in the morning.

This is an excellent choice for people wanting to visit Kyoto. Away from the crowds in a quiet surrounding by the lakeside. Rooms are very large with quality furnishings. Access to the train station is provided free with a shuttle bus with acceptable frequency during the day but unacceptable late (after 10:00) start. Another major drawback is the lack of free Internet access; no Wi-Fi and the paying ethernet cable access did not work with my computer.

Hotel Feature Tip : Be aware the shuttle bus starts late in the morning
